re: Should the National League adopt the designated hitter?

There are more substitutions and especially more double switches in the NL. It’s common knowledge that being a manager requires more in-game strategy in the NL.
I think that the DH in 1973 was more of a gimmick to spark attention/conversation, because the numbers have never confirmed that the game has improved noticeably because of it. The average team gets about 10 extra hits per season because of the DH rule.

The NL and AL aren't separate entities anymore. I don't really care which way it is, but it should be the same in both leagues. I rather the DH, personally.

Replace a .150 hitting pitcher with a .230 DH and it's like 25 hits in a season assuming two at bats a game are replaced
But games are long enough already. Do we really need more offense?

I don’t like the DH one bit. But we all know it’s coming. And I’m tired of talking about it. Might as well get it over with.

AL had 211 more hits on the year. Broken down to the team level, that’s 14 more hits per team on the season.
AL = 4.01 at bats per hit
NL = 4.05 at hats per hit
AL = 4.01 at bats per hit
NL = 4.05 at hats per hit

Again, does nobody see the “more choice” part of this like I already stated? By adopting the DH in both leagues, MLB can move to a schedule in which ALL teams play EVERYBODY in MLB. Again, give the fans more choice. We talk about attendance all the time regarding MLB. On any given night, I would guess that 75% of the stadiums are at least half empty. Maybe, if they gave the fans some better matchups, the attendance would improve. Again, I use the Indians as an example, ask yourself this, would you want to go watch the Indians play the Tigers, Royals and White Sox every other series, or would you like to see them playing the Dodgers, Cubs and Cardinals? IMO, i think this is the biggest benefit of using the DH.

Or you can get rid of the DH and accomplish the same thing

Tradition means a lot in baseball. Interleague didn’t start until 1997.

Why can't they do that anyway? I would love expanded interleague and less division games.
