I was more referring to try hards at the office that wear a cheap suit while we’re wearing polos and button ups or dudes who show up to engagement parties/whatever and are the only person suited up

But my profession and friends/family are probably trashier than yours

Meh. I'm never going to rail on someone for wearing a suit in a business casual environment.

Unless I know the event would call for a suit, I usually go dress slacks and a blazer. But I've been the only guy in a suit before and don't really care. If you have a formal event at a moderately formal place, I'm wearing a suit unless otherwise noted.
