Pool volleyball net height?

I’ve googled it and got everything but these dimensions. I’m trying to figure out the height of a net for a pool that’s 5’6” in the middle (net) and 4’ depth of water on each sides.

Just run the net flush with the decking side to side and call it a day?

The poles that came with the set are 5’ and my pool in the center is 5’6” and 4’ on the edges. So unless I cut the poles, the net will be 10’6”.

That's sort of high! Standard height is just under 8ft for court volleyball. Unless you have a group of NBA players, 10+ft is way too high.

Yes, I’m trying to calculate how much to cut the poles

My brothers In-Laws have a pool built specifically for volleyball. When I've played over there the net was barely above the pool decking. Maybe 6 inches above the deck. The pool depth is a flat 5'6" so 6" to the bottom of the net, with a 2" net would give you 8' I guess? give or take the difference from water surface to pool deck?
Edit: Their poles set down into the holes in the concrete same as a pool ladder of step railing so overall height of the poles was 5' or close to it.

just leave about a foot under the net above the water line...
jumping in water to spike is not easy and they will most likely play from the 4' ends and not the deep center

My parents old net was about as high as my fingers and I'm 5'11 with a 73” wingspan. I'm white anyway, but you can't jump very high in a pool. But we've definitely had some hard spikes into people's faces. There's a spike we'll be talking about to our grave where our 6'4 friend crushed it into a petite asian girl's face.
So the real question is do you want spikes and blocks? Or just casual hitting it back and forth?
As said, make sure you are measuring the top of the net when the poles are IN the ground. But I'd say you want the top of the net about 75 - 80 inches above the bottom of the pool.
ETA: my parents pool is a "sports" pool also. Deeper in the middle where the net is then the front and back.

That’s got to be some kind of record.

Not hardly. It was there when they bought the house. Its Octagon shaped, all one depth with a flat bottom and has the holders for the poles on each side in the center. I guess the owners didn't want to fill the entire yard with a bigger pool.
