Consider yourself lucky. I would guess that 80% of workers who aren't self-employed would be canned (or at least severely reprimanded) if "caught" drinking during work hours.

I would love to keep a bottle of bourbon in my office. I've even considered doing it for when I work late and the office is virtually empty. But it's just not worth the risk.

Mainly having respect for how you look when out in public. I don't mean like walking the dog or getting the mail, but going out on the town.

There's a cool video of New Orleans in the 50's, mainly on Canal street. Everyone was wearing suites, top hats, etc.

Look at Canal now and it's a cesspool in comparison.

I don't think people should necessarily wear suites out and about, but my God have some respect for yourself.

I feel like there is 2 types of dress wear for women at the organization I work for:

- women younger than 40: dress attractively, unless fat.
- women older than 40: essentially wear what looks like loose fitting pajamas with flats on.

Meanwhile, men of all ages are required to dress strictly in business casual. No polos. Slacks / long sleeve dress shirt / dress shoes.

Yeah...that’s fair

Had that at my first firm. The one I'm at now is uptight as frick. I think one of the big wigs may be an alcoholic or something.

right after lunch time, one of the assistants would make sure the ice bucket was freshened up, drink garnishes prepped, and snack bowls were ready, I had such weird hours, I'd drive in from training or whatever and no matter what time of day, someone would get me a beer if before noon, and either a gin & tonic or a bourbon if afternoon, that was a good family and a pretty good practice

Pharmacists that also run a soda fountain and ice cream parlor, with a barrel of hard candy you can get horehound for a penny, and no col... nevermind.
