Haven't drank for 7 days

I am addicted to alcohol. It has consumed a large part of my life, and some times that does upset me. Most of the time, though, I don't really mind knowing. I've been drinking, daily, for about 3 or 4 years. The longest break, before this week long one, was 2 days. I did that maybe twice, during the three to four years. This isn't really me asking for advice, or help, because I know what both sides of the fence are presenting. I'd just like to hear of others "sober up" stories, or maybe how you temper your usage and still enjoy it.

What was your rock bottom that made you seek change?

I have been told I have an addictive personality, but alcohol, pills, drugs, etc. are nothing I’ve ever struggled with. Best of luck on your journey

So how are you feeling after 7 days? Better, same, worth it?

Keep it up.
I've been fighting with quitting drinking for about a year now. I'll quit for a few weeks/months and then slip back in to the daily drinking routine. I need to accept that I have to quit drinking...period. If I drink here and there on the weekend I slip back in to the daily habit.

How was it affecting your life that made you want to stop? I functioned for several years on my pain pills. It got to where I was missing work and family functions because I had run out and was dope sick. That's when I knew I had let it take over completely and had to do something to stop.
Good luck on your journey.

Went for probably eight hours last night. Then I woke up this morning and I got myself a beer.

You need to start going to AA meetings. AA saved my life and it can do the same for you.

Hard to explain...I feel better, but only here and there. I noticed my stomach had been freed from constant bloating, and my thoughts feel more clear and congruent.
