To prove my point. You just said in a previous post how overrated the SEALS are and are basically a show off team for the Navy to get money. You know shite period. And the fricking dude you're blowing at work has at best a 99% chance of not being a SEAL.

Are you going to actually make an argument or just make homoerotic comments?

Just because they killed bin laden doesn’t mean I’m wrong.

Probably Closer to 100%. Since I never claimed to work with any SEALs.

Well they’re about the only ones staying in these days. The military has gotten stupid nowadays. Too much PC bullshite.
Most of them were grimy SOB's back in the day. I crack up at the thought of them giving "safety briefings".

Making common sense points......the NAVSOC is only there so the Navy can get more money......yeah there is no common sense with you and you just proved that loud and clear....and you just backed it up with the next post after that... admitting the SEALS are built for special missions no one else can do. And hey nerd you can't yell on a keyboard, but you can talk a lot of shite until someone calls you out. Which you just proved very loudly.

That's the First Sergeant's job. Sergeant Majors are too busy scaring the hell out of Second Lieutenants.

My fave is when they ask the entire formation if anyone has any questions at 1600 on a Friday. There’s always one. And I hate that guy

True. They do give the safety briefing to the battalion before a long weekend though. Normally more threats than safety tips.

Delta Force- considering DF recruits from all branches, and includes former SEALs, you can’t even attempt to equate your ordinary SEAL teams with the Unit.

Team Six is the equivalent of Delta. They are the only two "tier 1" outfits in the military - at least if you're only counting military (and not CIA who has it's own Special Operations Group mostly consisting of ex SEALS and Army SF people). Team Six recruits from the other SEAL teams just as Delta recruits from SF and Rangers (mostly). To get into Team Six you have to have a recommendation from ranking officers of other teams, must have live combat experience and also must be willing to do it, of course. Today, however, I believe both ST6 and Delta recruit from all branches which makes them basically the same outfit.

ST6 has a mission profile similar to Army's SF. That is to say, they stay behind enemy lines for protracted periods of time living among locals, many are bilingual, and they have relaxed grooming standards (they often wear civilian clothes). Very much similar to Army SF. Basically, they are not just a direct action unit like the other SEAL teams who mostly specialize in clearing beaches ahead of maritime invasions, underwater demolition, boarding boats and ships, etc.

ST6 was formed after the failed Iran hostage raid which was undertaken by Delta. Dick Marcinko (a SEAL commander) was in the situation room watching it go down and thought to himself how poorly planned the whole op was. He got the idea to create a SEAL team to do what Delta does, except better. In the early days ST6 specialized in counter-terrorism (CT) and hostage rescue. Their first real life mission was the Achille Lauro hijacking, which was perfect for them since it involved a ship being hijacked by Muslims (the PLO did it).

Marcinko used to claim that when he was in command of ST6 in the 80's that their ammunition budget was larger than the entire ammunition budget of the Marine Corps'. All training was done with live rounds at all times (which resulted in a number of deaths of his team members). He also claimed that most Team Six members could bench at least 500 lbs.

However, he got into a lot of trouble internally with the Navy because he encouraged a wild lifestyle. He and his men often brought booze to training sessions and they were notorious womanizers. Marcinko used to say their motto was the acronym WGMATATS (We get more arse than a toilet seat). I assume they also PIIHB quite often.

The Army has always been more professional and clean-cut from what I can tell. Marcinko himself even said as much. But his whole idea was to create a ruthlessly badass unit of non-conformists who pushed the boundaries. Marcinko always said that the Muslims are mean motherfrickers and he wanted his men to be meaner.

Of course a lot has changed since the wild west days of Marcinko's team. But I still get the feeling that the culture hasn't changed much. SEALs are still notorious alcoholics.

Well, it's not only there so the Navy can get more money, but the mission expansion is. All branches create bullshite units and expand missions to stay relevant in war.

My Rate Master-at-Arms (Military Police) expanded from around 2,000 to 9,000 and we took over the Marines job guarding Nukes and created Expeditionary and Riverine units so the Navy could pretend to stay relevant in the War after we shot off all the tomahawks and stopped dropping bombs.

SEALs had a very specific skill set and they were very good at it. Now they do way too much and they have way too many of them. shite we have reservist SEALs! They only kill one weekend a month and two weeks out the year.

I don't know man. I used to think that too but I work with a former Delta dude and he never shuts the frick up about all his exploits. I also work with a former CCT who was with Seal Team 6 and he rarely talks about his former life.

If he talks about it all the time he probably is stolen valor. Probably was in the SF support bn.

Indoc - 9 weeks Combat Diver Course - 6 weeks Basic Survival - 3 weeks Airborne - 3 weeks Freefall - 5 weeks EMT-Paramedic - 22 weeks Recovery Specialist - 24 weeks

That’s the old pipeline.

Indoc is now A&S and it’s 4 weeks long. Also have an 8 week prep before then.

EMT is 37 weeks long, not 24.

PJ’s are held in high respect within spec ops.

PJs are only one of two AFSOC units that are on par or better than SEALs. Combat Controllers are also elite.

I would say that before the SEALs were diluted by growing too large it would be them, Delta, Marine Force Recon, and AFSOC all pretty equal at the top of the spear. Now I would put the Navy boys as a second tier (slightly) as a whole because they have had too many get through BUDs that should not have but due to number demands they did.
