Agree with this move...JBE, F King, and their cronies need to stop leeching off athletics to support LSU. There’s a reason people don’t donate more to the academic side instead of athletics...it’s ran by incompetent buffoons and no telling where your money would go.

Faculty gonna be salty af haha. Woodward doing his job as the AD.... make athletics prosper and make the institution worry about the educational side of things.

“It’s something that’s very dangerous, when universities rely on recurring money, especially from an auxiliary like the athletic department,” Woodward said. “So no, I think, while I will always support the university in some form or fashion, we cannot sustain what we’re currently doing.”
Woodward confirmed his belief that it’s not the athletics department’s responsibility to bail a state school out.

LSU athletics may not directly contribute funds to the university any more
What the actual frick? LSU Athletics was contributing $1 million per year when I was a student in the 80s. This isn't some Joe Alleva thing, although he may have increased it. But I'd like to see the AD still contribute something. After all, the athletes would benefit - inasmuch as they are still students on the academic side.
...aren't they?

What a girthy bastard Woodward is. He did the complete opposite of what the media criticized LSU for, and instead just gave a nice "frick you" to the university.
Ball's in your court, King. Let's see how "Fierce for LSU" you really are.

With more money to work with and upgrade here, athletics is going to take off
