we wont blindly through money over to the academic

People who don't even have a grasp of their own native tongue shouldn't be casting aspersions at academics.

It's just embarrassing.

This tells me that F King isn’t riding on his back like he was with that other guy.

You can also advertise it to the public in a more tangible way when you can say LSU athletics gave X amount for this or that project rather than a blanket amount per year which is a nice talking point but people can’t see where that goes day to day.

This is true.

"TAF donates new library to the University" has a lot more oomph.

Do you really think Woodward just woke up and decided to remove big stream of funding from the university? I would bet this was discussed a long time ago and this didn't surprise anyone in the administration.

Maybe. One of the first things most new CEO's will do is review the books and see where the biggest expenses are going. Seeing $50 million over the past 8-10 years is a big eye opener. Alleva was F. King's puppet so he knew better than to say anything. Woodward walked in with a ton of connections and zero fricks about F. King's connections.

I think the AD should continue to transfer money to the academic side, but I think it should be targeted. Not just a subsidy.

Maybe if the science lab needs microscopes, the AD money pays for that, etc. So that why it's not a stream of cash that the academic side depends upon, but rather, money for special projects.

That is exactly what is going to happen.

You think F. King laid back and said "hell yeah baw take away that $10m per year?" I'm sure he's punching the air right now, and it all could've been avoided if he backed his AD like he had a spine. Put out a strong statement reiterating that the athletics department is totally self funded, contributes heavily to the university, and should not be criticized for using private donations as their donors intended.

He just built a wall between academics and sports. It was undoubtably a Trumpian double-down move after the criticism. He's separating church and state.

Everybody knows he is about to tear down the PMAC and rebuild it with General wades visions.

This capital will be diverted to the GWs campaign.

As much as we all hate Bama, their academic side has been booming since Saban has been there. The reason? Their administration understands that there is no better advertisement for your university in the south than being good in athletics. Maybe that's bass akwards or whatever but it's reality.

Basically whatever amount of money the Athletic Department gives to the University, the State takes away that amount of money from the LSU budget.

This is a misstep from Woodward.

Everyone knew he was going to do this, he pretty much mentioned it early on when he was hired.

Basically Woodward is going to look at the transferring of a funds on a case by case basis

Which opens the door for GREAT PR. What sounds better?

a.) The athletics department gave millions to academics
b.) LSU athletics department funds new library project

Well this is a good thing. Get rid of LSU sports and see how much the average fan gives a shite about the university. LSU is where it is on the list of schools in Louisiana not because of academics but sports. No one wants to watch kids play school.
