Roy played against superior competition in high school and dominated. Sopsher is a wild card since we never saw him against any remotely high level players or teams in the classification he was in.

I'll take Roy with a smile.

There is a reason he was a top 10 pick and Jackson wasn’t taken until late in the second round.
Yeah, the reason is that they didn’t evaluate well back then. Ricky Jackson was better than Hugh Green all day every day.

rivals info on Roy and his commitment LINK
Roy is a versatile piece for LSU to plug in along the defensive line. He's technically a tackle, but in a three-man front is an intriguing option as a 4- or 5-technique on the edge. Roy has violent hands and a relentless motor, which translates well to either position upfront. He's also a superior athlete with leaping ability and nimble feet, which are major positives in his game.

Furthermore, as a pass-rusher, Roy uses a stutter step, a rip move, a spin move and at full strength can bull-rush the opposition. He constantly keeps opposing linemen guessing at what move he'll utilize next. At his best, Roy is a one-man wrecking crew that feasts on inferior offensive lineman with brute strength and elite speed for a 300-pounder. He can be a dominant 3-, 4- or 5-technique at the next level and should thrive as defensive coordinator Dave Aranda gets creative with his skill-set.

Guillory is a shorter version of sopsher, has a better motor, but doesn’t have the ceiling sopsher has. Roy is the best of the three and the final rankings will reflect that. Roy has 1st round written all over him. Sopsher could be Quinnen Williams or not even make an NFL roster.

Anybody else notice Roy mentioning “Coach LaCouture” in the rivals link I totally forgot he’s on the staff seems to be making a little difference if nothing else

Hugh Green was unstoppable in college. There's a reason he was a Heisman finalist. He dominated players because he was a freakish athlete for his size and he had strength to muscle players. There's been many players who dominated in college because they were just stronger than the competition. In the NFL it requires more than strength, because everybody is strong, it requires technique, something Jackson developed better than Green. But in college, against college players, Green was a freakish monster. Much more dominate than Jackson.

^^^ this.

Sopsher is lazy as all hell. He has no drive or desire when he plays football. Takes majority of plays off. He was not impressive many times during his senior year and actually got outplayed often by inferior opponents.

If 247's recruiting rankings are an indicator then they rate as follows:

1) Roy (.9768)
2) Sopsher (.9757)
3) Guillory (.9367)

Keep in mins that Guillory plays a different position and both Roy and Guillory still have their Senior seasons to rise (or fall) in the ratings.

That’s if you believe a guy who weights 334 pounds is a DE.

Ricky Jackson dominated the moment he stepped on the field as a rookie. He didn’t make the jump from inferior to Green to superior to Green over one off season.
