Maybe later.

Better question for this board is what was Pitt doing to get Jackson from Apopka, FL and Green from Natchez, MS to go up north?

Well, it didn't hurt that in the year they wwere signed that Pitt won the national championship and Tony Dorsett won the Heisman Trophy and that they were bringing in a pretty good DC named Jimmy Johnson. Pitt was a perrenial top 10 program from 1975-1982.

Sopsher is like 6'6 350 He's basically MT. Cody 2.0. He's got more potential I'd say.

You guys seriously think Saban is gonna put up with a guy taking off plays. Soph will be giving 100% or he'll transfer out. Take off the purple and gold glasses

bullshite. Fake news. He made all the tackles because teams ran his way. RJ was an animal in college.

Yet the NFL scouts saw it fit to draft Green at #7 and Jackson at #51? I guess Green made the Pro Bowl because because teams were running his and LeRoy Selmon's way instead running left into the teeth of the Tampa Bay defense led by a journeyman LB named Andy Hawkins and DE's Jon Cannon and Booker Reese?

But were still a Northeatern school. Kids didn't travel like they do now back then. I know Jackie Sherill was above board...

Simple: Jackie Sherrill was coaching Pitt when those two signed! That guy was a world class cheat! Could probably even teach Saban a trick or two! (although Sherrill eventualy got caught, and Saban not yet).

Ricky was taken at the top of the 2nd round. The Saints should've taken Lawrence Taylor with the 1st pick of the draft instead of George Rodgers. Could've had the greatest defense of all time with Taylor/Jackson.
fricking Bum Phillips!

Nope. The Saints took Russell Gary with the first pick in Round 2 (#29) and took Jackson at #51. If you REALLY want to get pissed off....think about this. The Saints could have taken LT at #1, Howie Long or Mike Singletary at #29 and Rickey Jackson at #51.

Not true. I grew up in South Florida and I'm only a year younger than those guys. The best players I played against in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties all went out of state to better programs ......off the top of my head - Notre Dame, Auburn, Colorado, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan. That ended around 1980 when Bowden and Schnellenberger established FSU and Miami as national powers.

Yep. The Saints passed on LT and took George Rogers then took Russell Gary while Long and Singletary were still on the board.

I do remember that in the 70’s Ohio State and Michigan got players from Florida, but Bowden was at FSU when Jackson went to Pitt. Hugh Green was from Natchez, MS. No way there wasn’t some shenanigans

(Sop) always has an excuse though. He couldn’t practice at the all American game because he said the helmets were too tight.

Sopsher looks slow to me. Roy looks much quicker and more aggressive.

Jackson was recruited in 1976 and graduated in 1977. Pitt was winning the NC in 1976 while Bowden was going 5-6 in his first season at FSU. With Bear Bryant disciple Jackie Sherrill taking over at Pitt, you know damn well there was some shenanigans going on.
