Opinion on Coach O

I will admit, I was like other fans and not pleased when Alleva botched the coaching serch and the optics of hiring Coach O seemed like we "settled" (don't bash, just comments from others). With that being said, I was never an O basher, nor someone who ran through walls for him. To me, it was a "wait and see" position. Obviously, he has made mistakes over the past two years with coaching hires and team play in some games. But, the team has performed well with head to head competition against top 10 teams. But, for the most part, LSU football is definitely trending up. I say that with the understanding he has put together a great staff, he is killing it on the recruiting trail, and the potential of this year's team is great. Combine that with the timing of the new facility coming online and the attention it's getting and voila, LSU seems to have some very good days ahead. So, this is coming from someone who was on the fence, but let coach O get his chance. So far, he seems to be passing the test.

This year is the year. If he doesn’t make the SECCG or CFP with this year’s team, he never will.

We will never have a better setup between returning/incoming talent and favorable schedule than 2019.

Regardless if you like him or not, he’s done a better job than anyone expected. He has my support mainly because he kept us from becoming irrelevant after Miles. Whether he is here for several years or not, he saved a potential landslide.

How many times are we going to say "give him a chance?" We're 3 years into this thing.

Including this year, he will have had a chance. We'll see what happens.

What about the #2 composite recruiting class he's bringing in? No chance of another good team in the future. Geaux away.

Hang it up Goldy.
The O-Bashers are toast. But some of you won't know about it until the thing goes ding and pops those slices up in the air.

I’m 1,000% behind CEO. He’s done an amazing job recruiting and has surrounded himself with an excellent coaching staff.

Actually, only a few holdouts like you are perched on a limb like vultures waiting for him to fail. Whether you like him or not, he’s breathed some life into the program. Hiring analysts, bringing in new coaches, revitalizing recruiting with a more balanced approach etc. His players love him. Yes, he’s made some mistakes but LSU is trending up.
The brand is strong while it was wilting under Miles.
None of the guys who were the alternatives to Herman have done well: Fedora, Fuentes, etc.
Give it a rest!

Orgeron has won some folks over. But fans are fickle. The Texas game is huge for Orgeron.

If LSU bears Texas, Orgeron critics will go in a deep hibernation. Some of his critics might even embrace him.

But if LSU loses to Texas, it will be an all season crawl out of the hole for Orgeron, his only chance for redemption beating a win at Bama.

Just keeping it real. Orgeron has done just enough to keep his critics at bay. He doesn’t have much equity with the fan base, right or wrong. The Texas game is big. Herman spurning LSU makes it bigger. Orgeron gonna be the GOAT or the goat after the Texas game.

I’m sorry. When did Orgeron win us a national championship? Because that’s the ONLY WAY the “O-Bashers” will be “toast”.

Signing a great recruiting class means jack shite if you do nothing with it. I’m not saying he won’t win a championship, I’m just pointing out that as of yet, he has not and if he ever does, he will not be considered a “good hire” for LSU.

I think he has done a good job, especially bouncing back from the Troy debacle. Obviously it never should have happened, but if that is the catalyst to us competing for division and SEC championships, I'm all for it. IMO the Troy loss is ancient history and people that continue to bring it up as a negative look desperate and ignorant.

This is the only statement that I disagree with. One year doesn't make a trend IMO. He's still making some of the same mistakes he's made recently here and at Ole Miss. This is the year, the 3rd year always is. Can he let Brady and Ensminger for that matter do what they want to do. I think if they get to run what they want that we have a serious chance to make the playoffs this season.

When CEO starts winning division and conference titles, he'll start winning over the naysayers. In truth, it's really not that difficult to get to 9 wins and 5 conference wins at a program like LSU (Miles went 37-14 (20-12) in 4 full seasons before being fired). To date, Orgeron hasn't really done much better than that.

This is definitely his "prove it" year.

He's won me over in the sense that I'm willing to give him a chance to see what he can do to follow up a very good season last year. Lots of coaches can have one good year. He's gonna have to string together multiple years like that to totally win me over to say he's the guy for the future of LSU.

O will bring us a couple of nattys in the next five years. He has learned from past mistakes. LSU is a destiny job for him. If he keeps recruiting lights out and keeps a fence around Louisiana, then the sky's the limit.
