The New York Times — that Democratic Party house organ that fancies itself "liberal" or "progressive" or some such — is actually one of the more reactionary institutions in our country. Sometimes you have to wonder if it might actually be an American version of Izvestia.
Speaking of which, in honor of the fifty-year anniversary of the USA putting a man on the moon, the once-upon-a-time newspaper of record produced this ridiculous nonsense under the rubric "How the Soviets Won the Space Race for Equality."
"The Cold War was fought as much on an ideological front as a military one, and the Soviet Union often emphasized the sexism and racism of its capitalist opponents — particularly the segregated United States. And the space race was a prime opportunity to signal the U.S.S.R.’s commitment to equality. After putting the first man in space in 1961, the Soviets went on to send the first woman, the first Asian man, and the first black man into orbit — all years before the Americans would follow suit."

Ever notice how progressives always take things about America that should unite us and be celebrated with national pride and instead criticize American over it?

Everything they print must first pass through the Marxist Assumption Disgronificator. Thus the unprecedented triumph of America putting a man on the moon becomes AmeriKKKa hates blacks and women.

Russia’ commitment to equality? WTF? Are these people taking crazy pills. So wrong on so many levels, don’t know where to begin...

Who down-voted this? It is obvious.

The USSR was so great for women that they got abortion as the only widely available form of birth control, the obligation to work in heavy industry and dangerous jobs, the highest divorce rate in the world, and generally the joy of living with your in-laws or communal housing. But they got a sweet celebration on Women's Day at the job site.

Yall have zero reading skills. If you had an ounce of critical thinking skills in your sloped and ridged skulls you would see this is about how the USSR portrayed itself in its propaganda. It isnt that they were ACTUALLY better, but how they virtue signalled to make themselves appear better.
God almighty some of yall dont use the brain cells the good lord gave you.

The Soviets tried to win the hearts and minds of the “downtrodden” by actively promoting members of the “downtrodden” groups in highly-public ways.
How is it remotely debatable that the Soviets did this? Why is it even one iota controversial to acknowledge that the Soviets did so?
Some people just spend far too much time looking for things to complain about. Maybe some of you folks need to re-watch that video about the female filmmaker who had to re-examine her preconceptions about male rights activists.

What was the actual headline?
And why would any normal American want to delve deeper into it - other that a research psychologist gathering data on human mental disorders.

Listening to Gene Kranz just now make you want to slap this NYT writer.

The fact that many Americans read this POS for their news is enough. The fact that they praise a murderous, tyrannical, oppressive regime for their "equality" is quite disturbing.

How does this change the fact that the NYT is a Pro-Soviet America hating birdcage liner?

I am glad you now understand how I feel when you tell me what Trump "really meant" to say.
