Sugar withdrawal

ended up last week made a log for my doctor of how much sugar intake and I consumed daily an average of 681 grams of sugar a day (170 teaspoon equivalent). Monday I started by eliminating and reducing most sources of sugar down to less than 70 grams a day and man o man, let me tell ya, going cold turkey from cigarettes wasn't anything compared to this shite. Sudden intense cravings, sleep pattern messed up, sudden mood swing..lol, and heart palpitations. My doctor said yup...it could take up to two weeks for this crap to clear up but already went from 256 to 249 weight in 5 days...though with work I walk between 8 to 9 miles a day so that helps.

In a few more days you’ll feel great. Eventually you’ll stop craving sugar and will feel like shite when you do eat sugar.

I don’t understand how people eat and drink so much sugar. I hate hate hate soda. I hate ketchup. It’s all so goddamn sweet, but falsely so.
Now fruits and veggies i’ll Eat happily, but this high fructose corn syrup laden garbage I can’t stand 95% of the time.

Good job, it’s an accomplishment to cut out that much sugar.. but whatever you do, please resist the urge to replace the sugar with artificial sweeteners like aspartame, which is found in diet soft drinks, Equal, chewing gum and lots of other things.. i made the mistake almost 20 yrs ago, when this thing called Sugar Busters was popular , of cutting out sugar, started with the Diet Coke and stuff- and suffered neurological symptoms that still persist, even though i cut all artificial sweeteners out soon after.. Not everyone reacts to aspartame the way i did, but many, many do and some far worse.. lots of info out there is you feel like researching, but just dont do it.

681 grams of sugar a day, or total carbohydrates?
It would be a shite load of total carbs, but that many grams of pure sugar a day would be mind blowing. Your pancreas is thanking you right now for cutting back on the sugar/carbs.

I'm not calling you a liar, friend... But are you sure about 681 grams a day? That's about 18 Cokes.

It's really 186 grams and next week OP will give us another medical update that he's been diagnosed as dyslexic.

Holy frick. That alone is over 2500 calories. You’re going to continue dropping weight rapidly.
Take some magnesium if your doctor approves. It can help with carb withdrawal side effects.

shockingly I'm not diabetic or pre-diabetic even tho almost everyone on my moms side has it.. even my brother and 2 of his 3 kids..all are active and very fit (9 and 13). So that is what scared me into finally waking up to "you are in your 40s idiot.. its time to take care of yourself". Amazing though shopping at the grocery store at how much stuff they pass off as "food" I can't touch as almost everything is sugar infused.

Tonight is the worst... regular heart palpitations, shakes, and the sugar cravings are insane... drinking water like crazy and climbing up the steps to my loft every time it gets unbearable...this is gonna be a shitty weekend!
