AS terrible as they are, hurricanes are am integral part of our climate
A hurricane's heat transfer from the tropics to the higher latitudes is pretty important in global climate.

I dont mean to insinuate that it would destroy all marine life..more along the lines of hurting several fish species..short term...a year at most.
You could destroy our food chain. Plus, IMO, natural disasters may help things in the long run, and eliminating them could lead to other issues, not just immediate concerns.
Take, for example, the suppression of forest fires in the California motherlode. We've learned that fires can actually be healthy for the long term integrity of the forest.

Hurricanes are the means by which the atmosphere attempts to achieve equilibrium by transferring heat from the tropical regions toward the poles. Mess with that process and you're asking for trouble.

Absolutely not.
Let Mother Nature do Mother Nature.
Consider the BP oil spill and its overall impact. Evacuate and rebuild.

Why dont they just build a Dutch Boy? Clearly the technology and capability to control weather is there. If it's in a movie, how could it not exist in the real world?

Trumps gonna nuke that storm right off the map.
Nuke it!!
Nuke it!!

.if there was a chemical that could be sprayed..
How about filling in all of those fault lines with expanding foam to prevent earthquakes in the future.
We could also cap off volcanoes with some Flexseal.

So the spray would help fight the glacier melt and weaken the hurricane?

I remember them seeding hurricanes with silver dioxide crystals in the 60’s. Did not work.

Project Stormfury
quote:
Project Stormfury was an attempt to weaken tropical cyclones by flying aircraft into them and seeding with silver iodide. The project was run by the United States Government from 1962 to 1983.
The hypothesis was that the silver iodide would cause supercooled water in the storm to freeze, disrupting the inner structure of the hurricane. This led to the seeding of several Atlantic hurricanes. However, it was later shown that this hypothesis was incorrect. It was determined that most hurricanes do not contain enough supercooled water for cloud seeding to be effective. Additionally, researchers found that unseeded hurricanes often undergo the same structural changes that were expected from seeded hurricanes. This finding called Stormfury's successes into question, as the changes reported now had a natural explanation.
The last experimental flight was flown in 1971, due to a lack of candidate storms and a changeover in NOAA's fleet. More than a decade after the last modification experiment, Project Stormfury was officially canceled. Although a failure in its goal of reducing the destructiveness of hurricanes, Project Stormfury was not without merit. The observational data and storm lifecycle research generated by Stormfury helped improve meteorologists' ability to forecast the movement and intensity of future hurricanes.

The transfer would still happen, we would just wrsken the system.
Im VERY sure a Cat 5 isnt necessary to achieve your "transfer"
Making a cat 5 into a Cat 1 before landfall in a populated area like houston, NE states, etc. would not be completely changing nature.
Weakening the ingredients for strengthening would be a home run.

No way. There is absolutely nothing man can do that the environment will not correct.
You are correct in a way. The thing about it is may decide during the correction that it prefers to make life for humans much more difficult than it was before.

I thought the simple solution to weaken or prevent Hurricanes was to elect Democrats who will fix the global warming problem overnight?
