I was told the MLB was dying and that the NBA was the most popular league according to this message board.

I mean it helps when the MLB game is on fox and the NBA game is on TNT

One game feels real. The other is some And1 garbage

Yeah that's why.

I know
But NFL is still the most popular sport

Old people watch more tv than young people. Old people like baseball more than they like basketball.

Wrong

Not a surprise. The Home Run Derby regularly beats the NBA All-Star Game in yearly ratings. 7 million viewers is actually ridiculously bad though. Last year's game got 8.69 million viewers and it was an all-time low.

Sorry, WCA, this is actually why.

pro bowl is behind the MLB all-star game but is still ahead of the NBA all-star game

I never suggested that fox vs TNT was the only reason that it was true. Just that it was a pointless comparison to begin with for that reason

MLB showed out so well with the All Star festivities. The Home Run Derby with its new rules and new talent was nonstop drama.
Then the game itself was a blast with personal inclusions such as players being mic’d up directly to the booth. I mean you had Freddie Freeman talking directly to Joe Buck and John Smoltz while at the plate vs Verlander.
Tip of the hat.

I believe like 20% of tv users had Fox blacked out last night so that is a super bullshite excuse.

How do ratings work?
I see this for the pro bowl
The NFL Pro Bowl scored a 5.1 rating and 8.23 million viewers across ESPN, ABC and Disney XD Sunday afternoon,
What the actual figure for both NBA and MLB?

You have at least a million boomers who don't know how to work their remote so the television stays on their local Fox station.

And 20% of them had Fox blacked out last night. Try again.

Pro Bowl ratings and viewership have declined in seven of the past eight years. Last year — the first year the game was simulcast on two networks — was the lone exception.
Despite the lower numbers, the Pro Bowl compares favorably to similar sporting events. It ranks narrowly behind last year’s MLB All-Star Game (5.2, 8.69M) and comfortably ahead of last year’s NBA All-Star Game (4.3, 7.65M).

It's easier to play a competitive exhibition in baseball vs the other sports without worrying about injuries.
