Anyone else deal with this. Guy in a supporting department who's effectively my equal will only hire employees who are no threat to his position.

He was very good at his job. About a year ago, he was rewarded with a promotion and oversees 10-15 people.

He will not hire a single person who could possibly be better than him. Of his nine hires, 3 have made it to the sixth month mark. Of those six. One is a rather lazy rehire... Who shines in high stress situations. The other two are just cubicle fillers.

How do you handle that? Because verbal harassment and degradation isn't working

I'm guessing management has noticed his high turnover rate. It can't look good for him.

Maybe he's just a bad judge of charecter. There are tons of people that can push a pencil with the best of them, but don't know their arse from first base when it comes to managing others or making decisions

My hiring habits are a bit different. 5’7” blondes with blue eyes and at least full B cups. It was a complete accident.

Difference between a boss and a leader. A good leader knows that if his department shines, he shines. If his department sucks, it doesn't matter whose fault it is, it's going to bite HIM in the arse.

That was pretty good.

Alas I was hired for loyalty and lethargic efficiency.

I never seem to be doing anything, but I'm always ahead of everyone else

Show up late to interview and he will hire you.

I'm slightly more rigorous picking auditors.
