Naz did not make a bad decision

Naz left LSU in great shape with plenty of skills that the NBA likes in bigs these days. Sure he had things to work on, but so does every player that was drafted last night. He did not make a bad decision to leave. What he did do was not prepare himself properly after the decision was bad. Fault him for not working hard to get himself into the draft like Tremont did. Most of you that think he should have stayed are just feeling that way for selfish reasons.
The Naz that left in April was ready for the NBA. The Naz that showed up at the combine and workouts was not.

Nah, he did. Johnny O'Bryant looked better coming out of LSU after staying for multiple seasons and he didn't amount to anything in the NBA.

I'm not sure I know how to respond to all of the stupidity in this comment.

Bad take. The NBA draft just came and went, and Naz didn’t hear his name called. He very clearly made a bad decision.
If he had come back, built on his game, and continued to re-work his body I think he is looking at the bottom of the first round next year at worst with a guaranteed contract. Instead he’ll be G league bound or overseas and it can be a long road to get the foot back in the door.

Because he was underdsized, couldn’t really shoot, and his game didn’t translate. You can stay in college all you want to “develop” but if you don’t actually do that you won’t succeed in the NBA.

If keeping Naz were to mean not getting Watford, I would say Naz, thanks for the efforts, but go pro young man. From all appearances and reports, Naz is a good kid, and hustled, but I've been watching college hoops for 40 years, and the only bigger disappointment from a highly recruited player I can remember is Fess Irvin, or maybe Tyrone Black, but I'm not sure he was highly recruited. Maybe that Regis Koujnda who was supposed to be all world when we signed him.

If Naz felt that he couldn’t improve his ball handling and footwork, then I understand why he left. My only problem is that it just seemed like the decision was already made and there was no consideration to coming back. But I can never fault someone for wanting to pursue their dreams. He’s still gonna get a check and have his chance to make it, as unlikely as it may be now.

You will never hear his name again.

No he made at least two bad decisions
1. To leave college before he was ready
2. To not prepare for the Combine.

Him and Naz are the same size though and he shoots better.

He's gonna make $35k a season in the G-League with the small chance he makes it in the NBA...
A degree and 4 years at LSU is worth more than that

No, he made a horrible decision. If he would have stayed 1 more year at LSU, one more year - his bank account would have beed FAT!
He got bad advice.

JOB didn’t have a shot past 15 feet. Through three years he never developed a consistent jumper.
Again, unless you are damn sure you will be able to develop the parts in your game that the NBA wants its arguable whether or not staying is worth it. Look at the ages of 1st round picks. The younger you are the more of an asset you are. Fooling around in college for 2 years and not getting better will hurt you in the long run. JOB might have been a better college basketball player, but he wasn’t a better NBA player.

There's no right or wrong answer here.
Some could say Naz did the right thing by leaving early because he's going to go to the GLeague and still get near NBA level coaching, while playing against near NBA level talent.
Some could also say if Naz came back for another season he still would have got good coaching, been able to develop more, and maybe sneak into the first round where he would have received 9-10M rather than the 800K he's going to get.

Sure and we see this all the time. He kid is dumb for leaving but it's the dumb fan that just wants the kid to stay so his team is better.

Also, is anyone really not considering that his dad may have taken some money and that's why the smart decision was to leave?
