I think you also have to look at the time period this was written. This guy grew up at the tail end of the Victorian era which was a very prudish time that also had a lot of growth in cultural areas. In 1934 The Roaring 20's had just ended which was one of the more hedonistic periods and they ended with the depression. I think this idea is largely bullshite though.

Brother went to high school with a dude that got his 13 yr old girl friend pregnant (he was also 13)... so then, couple months into the pregnancy, he gets the chicks mom pregnant... THEN, both the mom and the daughter have the babies and the husband and kid then help raise them as a "unit". The mom, the daughter, the kid and the dad all living happily under one roof with the baby (siblings?)....

At the bachelor party I went to/hosted a couple of weeks ago one of the guys brought these two random girls he met off Tinder.
