Jackets making a late push for Panarin. Eight year, $96 million dollars on the table.

I imagine Dallas didn’t want to give Zucc a 5 year deal. I wouldn’t either.

I would rather Pavelski as we need more of a scoring punch as well.
and it's going to take some time with Corey Perry

Goodbye Bura, thanks for owning the Lightning! Hopefully he can put it all together in Colorado. Got a nice return for him.

Spezza signing one year with the Leafs.

While I will miss Burky, who never quite became the player I thought he would become, trading him to sign Richard Panik at a $2.65m AAV is a terrific move. Panik is a better player and will cost less going forward. Good move by GMBM to keep this ship afloat.
He's really trying to squeeze the last few competitive years out of this team before the bottom feeders of the Metro get good.

Panarin officially to NYR.

Panarin looks like $81.5M over 7 to NYR

At $11.65m, Panarin now has the second highest AAV in the league, behind McDavid. He is the highest paid wing by about $2 million (over Ovechkin).
I like the Bread Man, but... he had 28 goals last season, ranking 48th in the NHL. He had 27 goals the season prior, tied for 46th in the league. He gets more assists than the usual winger, and he did have 87 points (17th) last year and 82 points (20th) the year prior.
He's 27, so it's not likely he's going to be getting better. He's really good, but... man, is he overpaid now. And I'm not sure he makes the Rangers a playoff team. They were the worst possession team in hockey not in Ottawa.

Probably not, but it at least brings some joy and hype to that disgruntled fan base. Can market him well.

Yup. We paid too much for the bread man. The pressure is on the front office so I can see why they pulled the trigger.
I think they will be much improved this year. I like the addition of Trouba and Panarin. I never liked Vesey. We'll see if Kappo is NHL Ready. I'm always skeptical of young kids.

Rangers twitter thinks they are gonna win the Cup. The Rangers were a really bad team who added Trouba and Panarin. That obviously makes them less bad, but I wouldn't even put them down as a playoff team in ink just yet (though I love their longterm outlook).
What sucks is that the bottom teams in the Metro are all getting better and the Caps and Pens are staring mortality in the face. Should be real hard to make the playoffs this year for everybody. Thank God the Jackets will suck and the Isles may have turned into a pumpkin. The window is closing for us and opening for everyone else.

Just part of sports is how I look at it. Going to be good for a decade+ and win titles then you have to be prepared for when you have the rough rebuild years not long after.
It's inevitable.

Great. Now I have to relearn how to spell Filppula.
