There are good ones all over. What part of town is the hobby shop in?

They’re taking me to Midsouth Toy & Hobby. It’s on Old Sumner Road. Looking on the map it looks to be in the northeastern part of town just off I-240.

Are Rendezvous' ribs even smoked? I thought I saw they were oven baked, which isn't even barbeque

Rendezvous grills rather than smoking their ribs. They are served dry with a spice rub.
Payne’s has an excellent sandwich and Cozy Corner has grey Cornish hens. Do not go after dark! BBQ Shop is solid. In general, I can do better than most places. Gus’ has amazing fried chicken but subpar sides.

Yeah I noticed that. There’s like 3 Centrals in Memphis. From what I’ve read the original on Central Street is the best. Only thing I worry about is what is that part of town like now? It’s been 20+ years since I was in Memphis and even then I was just passing through.

It’s on Central in Midtown nearish Cooper young. The neighborhood is fine. My favorite is bbq shop though.

Memphis BBQ is very meh, I think mostly cause it was easy to copy and you can get similar results near home. Commissary would be my choice.

Central is my overall favorite. Bar b q shop is solid as well, and don’t sleep on Memphis BBQ in Southaven.

What everyone else is saying Central City if you must have BBQ, but Gus's is the best fried chicken I have ever had in my life.
