I like using a stern saver pad. I use 4200 for just about everything though.
5200 isnt overkill IMO. I love that shite. It does take a good bit more effort to get your stuff off than 4200 but how much do you really change that stuff?
Eta: I know 4200 is "removable" but it's still pretty damn agressive. I put an engine on with it and when I pulled the motor off i had to pull it off with the tractor and it brought some gel coat with it. It would have hung on there with no bolts forever.

If you never want to remove it again use 5200
