It just depends on much weight you put on a single season. Clearly he had one of the single best seasons, and you can tell in that NC game that he was so far above everyone else that year.

But probably at least a couple of dozen of quarterbacks had better college careers.

The answer is obviously yes. His championship season was the greatest single season by a player I’ve ever seen.

Staubach
O'Brien
Wuerffel
Manning
Elway
Testaverde
Leinart

Flutie and Newton are two more that you could argue were better.
