NSIAP.
Jon Stewart delivered an epic speech in front of Congress today on behalf of the 9/11 first responders. This shouldn't be a partisan issue. These men and women need our help.

They've already paid 5 billion and now they are requested for more.
How much more do they fricking need?
How much more do they fricking need?

How much money do 69 rounds of chemotherapy cost?
And apparently, as of February 2019, it was announced that they wouldn't be able to pay out as much money as originally projected.

Don't know, don't care.
Why are these people so special?
Oh, I know as I see it right now on my tv. "We were in a war!"
Play to those feelings boys while thousands of others around the country don't get the same specialized treatment you do.

I’m with you.
How can 1/2 the country be salivating to give free healthcare to illegal aliens but not take care of our first responders?

Can you see through all of that straw?

You seem well equipped for this discussion to have an opinion then.

Don't worry, Congress will virtue signal and give them billions more. Already claiming it will be an almost unanimous vote.
And illegals shouldn't get a dime. Frankly I'd like to see them banned from hospitals unless they have the cash to pay their bill.

The point, which blew right by you, is why in the hell are these guys special when there are thousands of others around the country that do not get the same preferential treatment.
18 years later how the hell can they even prove these maladies were caused by where they were on 9/11. It's not like cancer is terribly rare.

If you need to ask that question then there is no point in having a debate with you.

Because there is no good answer beyond "Muh feels".
Posted on 6/11/19 at 2:48 pm to RollTide1987
It’s not the job of the government to take care of people. No one gets special treatment. The reason they’re in such bad shape is probably because they’ve been holed up in a government hospital

Yeah. That about sums it up. Those men and women risked their lives on one of the worst days this country has ever known. Hundreds died when those towers collapsed as they were trying to get to the burning floors above. Thousands more rushed into a very dangerous area, where their lives were still very much at risk from smaller collapses, to hunt for survivors.
They did their jobs and now a good many of them are suffering and dying from cancers that are related to asbestos exposure.

Don’t take this the wrong way, but you are a fricktard.

They are government employees that went through something extraordinary. It is absolutely the governments job to take care of these people under the circumstances.

So you'd rather these men and women be on the streets, increasing the homeless population of New York, and thus increasing the risk of epidemics from diseases that were thought to be eradicated long ago?

So why are they different from those that do the same thing, the only difference being the event they were involved in wasn't nationally televised?

Plenty of vets on the streets. Don't see them being gifted billions.

Are you people seriously questioning the first responders on 9/11 and why they need medical care funding?
Do some research. A ton of the first responders are developing the same cancers and the research says it's all related to the carcinogens from 9/11.
Go to the 9/11 Memorial. These people are heroes. They are not looking for a handout. They just want to not go bankrupt from getting medical care for ailments they got responding on 9/11.
Is our country really so callous and perverse that we question their motives?
Sad. People on this board are sad.

Because we were attacked on 9/11. These men and women were casualties in an attack no different from say Pearl Harbor. They're not just first responders, they're war heroes.
