A good friend of mine played for LSU a few years ago. While on his bachelor trip, he and several other former players reflected the same sentiments as OP. They weren't necessarily bad mouthing him, just weren't crazy about him.

So what you are saying is that every mistake a player makes: error in the field, strikeout, bad pitch, baserunning mistake is not their fault but the coaches?

Not a myth. If you could talk to almost half the 2017 team, they would tell you how much they hated playing for Maneiri

So YOU know & have spoken to approximately 15 players from the 2017 & they told YOU they hated playing for him?

Or you know someone that knows someone?

BS. I have 2 friends who played on 09 team One is a pitcher the other a starting infielder and they despise Maineri

Well, both could be true. My nephew thinks the world of CPM. Still gets texts from him occasionally. At his wedding there were several of his former teammates. There was a lot of talk, and not one negative word about CPM.

In athletics there will always be a few guys who can't stand the coach. Most of the time it's because of different opinions about how much the player should be playing. Sometimes it's just personalities that are oil and water. The infielder you are talking about is Blake Dean. He didn't like Mainieri because Mainieri rode him because he was lazy. My nephew told me in 2010 that Dean would never make it in baseball because he is lazy.

No, they don’t know what it’s like to play for a dynasty and a baseball hall of fame coach.

Next question.

And players from 20 plus years ago don't know what it's like to play in a much more competitive SEC or a larger tournament field or having to play in a super regionals after winning thier bracket if their playing time was pre 1999.

Knowing what it was like to play for a dynasty 20 plus years ago doesn't really mean your opinion of the current coach should carry much weight, especially when the coach of that dynasty has a positive opinion of the current coach.

But that's just my opinion, it carries zero weight.

What I'm saying is: THE COACH IS OVER ALL RESPONSIBLE FOR THE TEAMS SUCCESS OR LACK THEREOF!

Preparation, the players recruited and in game decisions are the on the Head Coach.

LSU lost to FSU because PM failed to prepare his team and PM failed to make sensible in game decisions!

Alright,

Although, at some point the players have to take responsibility for their performance or lack of performance.

I realize that baseball coaches can get a bit carried away with their signs to batters and base runners, but I don’t think CPM gave signs to Watson to make dumbass baserunning decisions or for Giovanni to get back picked at 3rd or for Garza to miss a base etc.....

Yes they are responsible but PM is accountable for their actions. Also, if the mental mistakes were not so pervasive, frequent and costly, I believe most of us would be more forgiving and realize that it is just a part of the game!
