Have been told the Knicks have been calling around to multiple teams asking about young vet and veteran players, offering some of their young players and/or future picks.

The belief is Griffin has told them they need that in their package to have any chance

Seems like they don’t have much of a chance then

No he's using their desperation

If they can get an upgrade to say DSJ, they can offer 3/Upgrade/Robinson/Trier/Dallas pick plus possibly another pick

The problem is who’s really gonna send a good young vet for DSJ... not many unless they give up the Mavs picks

The only team that would make sense to me is the pacers for Turner/Sabonis and holiday

would be second and third tier guys
like saric or Covington just to use as examples

good players on decent contracts that are plug and play (low usage)

and yes, this is a somewhat similar path that dell took building around Davis.
the difference is that dell had to burn draft capital to do it, and griffin has Davis to use as ammo

If they can't get the #2 pick from the Grizz I think this is their next best option. I'd be curious to know what type of young vet or vet Griff is after.

That's the biggest current drawback on the Knicks. Everything they've got is super young. We'd really be in rebuild mode for a couple years.

Celtics/Lakers are a better mix of experience and future assets.

I think the Knicks can grab Griffin, Favors, Winslow, RoCov with package

Covington could be a nice fit.

Yeah I like the idea of RoCo and Saric, but I'm not sure that Minnesota would want to move off of them for a DSJ/Knox/Franky Smokes/future picks type package. I would they'd be looking to get more win-now type guys to put around KAT.

I thought about Winslow, Bam, or Richardson from Miami if they're looking to tank next year given that they have their first rounder in 2020 and not 2021.

Blake certainly feels gettable, but is he is type of vet Griff wants or is he thinking younger?

Indy feels like a possibility with Sabonis or Myles, but I think they'd be more interested in Brown than in whatever the Knicks have to give up.

I don't think they could get Turner or Sabonis from Indy for those players or Richardson or Winslow from Miami. Maybe TJ Warren?

Yeah to clarify I don't think they could get either from Indy with anyone from the Knicks. I could see Brown and a first intriguing them perhaps in a 3 teamer with Boston, but they aren't interested in picks and prospects at this point.

The only reason I think the Heat might is if they finally decide to tank and recoup some future draft capital. But I agree that hasn't been Riley's MO in the past.

The Heat won’t tank unless they get their pick back from the Clip Show. It’s an unprotected 2020 pick IIRC, so they have no reason to tank for at least one more season.

It's a 2021 unprotected. They have their pick next year.
