Taking out one of your best hitters and best defensive catcher to put in a mediocre pinch runner on 1st with one out in the top half of an inning is so fricking stupid. It's so paul. And it likely cost us this game. Garza should've been up for insurance runs in the bottom of the 16th, and then that fricking passed ball on the strikeout. Jesus mathis.

And this was before the second passed ball. JESUS frickING CHRIST PAUL JUST RETIRE ALREADY

“Mathis is the better defensive catcher”

I don’t want to hear that line again.

The move was stupid at the time. 1 out and a runner at first when you're in the top half of the inning. You're putting in Bianco with your 8 and 9 hitters up. It's just so fricking stupid.

The same Garza that barely was cleared to catch 3 innings not long ago due to his injury?

I don’t want to see Mathis or Hughes in the lineup anymore.

Mathis can’t block and Hal hasn’t gotten a hit in a month

No way Mathis could have caught that whole game. He had to come out sometime. Mathis just needed to do his job

Garza wasn't blocking that ball either though. It bounced off the plate

Obviously many of you have never played baseball or at least caught behind the plate because it wears you out from catching, especially when you have a knee problem. Garza had a full 9 innings on Tuesday, would have caught 17 innings in tonight’s game, and then would have had to get up and catch a full game in the heat, and if we win would have to catch a full game on Friday, then possibly a full game on Saturday and Sunday.

He would have been worn out and not productive at all. When you call on a player like Mathis to come out and play, then you are depending on him to play his best. It happens, it’s baseball, and there are so many things and decisions coaches have to make in game time situations. It seems like an easy call for you and us as fans to say so and so should have kept playing whenever you’re sitting on your couch.

Is everyone forgetting that Broussard booted the ball that extend the game another inning?

This game was the tournament. Even if Marceaux pitches a gem tomorrow and we win somehow, we have basically no one to throw against State/Vandy on Friday.

That move cost us a regional, which cost us the season in all likelihood. If the move was made to save Garza for the rest of the tournament it's even dumber than it was on its face
