Given that one member of the Axis attacked the United States and another declared war on the United States, I think the answer is pretty easy.

1) Japan attacked us and then officially declared war on us
2) day later Germany declared war on us
Who we sided with would stay the same. what needs to change is the power we gave the USSR. To get them on board with the UN, we gave them more votes and VETO power for life. We also gave all kinds of concessions to try to get them to join the war vs Japan. This led to the taking on Japanese territory north of japan, and Russian forces attacking Manchuria, and soviet forces occupying northern Korea (leading to the next war)
also, FDR stopping Western allied forces from entering Berlin, and dividing up the east to USSR (start of the cold war with east vs west europe)

The Allies. Why would I join the Japanese who committed atrocity after atrocity in China? Why would I makes allies out of the Nazis who committed one of the worst crime against humanity in all of written history?
ETA: The only thing I would have changed is our relationship with the USSR. I would have crushed them immediately after the fall of Berlin. I would have diverted all military assets from the east and west to hammer them into submission.

Well, look at it this way. You want to get rid of both. Little old Germany is easier to take one on one. Team up to take out Stalin, then take out Hitler.

I would have let the war progress much as it did from 1941-1945. Then, with Germany and Japan both defeated, I would have launched a surprise offensive against the Soviet Union. I would have pushed them out of eastern Europe, using atomic weapons if so needed, and forced them to the negotiating table. My ultimatum? Depose Stalin and revert to republican democracy or face the wrath of a nuclear holocaust.

Well, the real question is- If I knew an attack was imminent (like we have now been told FDR knew in advance, but felt this was the only way to drag us into war) I would threaten the Japanese to avoid. Listen, after WW1, Americans didn't want to get involved in another European conflict. Hitler/Germany was no threat to America. If we could have avoided war with Germany/Japan, I am always intrigued with a possible Russian defeat against an east-west attack.
