If Woodward cans O he’ll promote Aranda because that’s what the LSU faithful would want

You obviously haven’t followed LSU football very long.

i dont disagree and i would love aranda as a hc in waiting or w/e. just would like to see him cut his teeth elsewhere in a perfect scenario.

wouldve actually liked him as hc instead of o.

since 1980.

the 21st century version of LSU football isnt in the same situation.

we spend money on athletics. a handful of teams don't hog the media spotlight with the advent of media technology and cable.

we may be the most talented state pound for pound and are in the conversation if nothing else.

we have no in state rival to recruit against.

8 wins at LSU is a complete failure of a season. 9-4 should be the line in the sand. if that happens more than not, the hc has to go.

Sure it'd be nice, but it's much easier while he's still in your control

Was a long painful spell between McClendon and Saban. Just saying.

Exactly, every once in a while you find guys in college or the NFL who's personality is a much better fit as a coordinator than a head coach (Monte Kiffin, Bud Foster, John Chavis, Tom Moore, etc.)

There are a few indicators that Aranda could be one of those career coordinator guys. But only he knows what he wants to aim for career wise, or if he wants to put in the work to be outgoing enough to head a program.

its a shame that stovall had scitso teams. maybe like 5 or 6 points from being undefeated one year and also second in the heismann. would've been the spurrier before spurrier.

arnsparger was legitimate. just didn't want to pay him or follow his blueprint for upgrading the program, so he left.

archer was a cheapo option and could actually coach, but not recruit or sutain a program.

hallman was just another option for an ad with bargain basement tastes who favre made look good.

dinardo was on the right track until he let mack brown steal our dc without even as much as a counter offer and wouldnt fire his friend tepper.

saban came onboard because of his relationship with mark emmert. left shortly after emmert because stupid coon asses like to meddle and bertman wouldn't pay him what he was worth. emmert protected him and gave him what he wanted.

here we are. at least we got rid of alleva and hired woodward. i'll keep my fingers crossed.

Yeah if that happens while O is taking the Tigers to the playoffs/new years games, then you'd just have to let Aranda go

I thought Aranda wanted to be an NFL DC. I can’t remember an interview were he has said anything else about what he wants to do next.

I always heard he was just tired of actually coaching. He left LSU to become the AD at Florida. It was not a contentious parting of ways.

Archer was basically Aranda of his time (close to it, at least). He was a hot young DC and there was some talk of him taking the next step in the near future (things were a bit different then). Arnsparger recommended him as his replacement.

Hallman was a hot commodity at the time. He had done miracle at southern miss. Turned out his only real miracle was keeping Favre out of trouble long enough to finish college

Are you just making crap up? Saban developed his relationship with Emmert at LSU and he left for the NFL, not because of anything at LSU and certainly not what he was being paid.

Saban”s contract at LSU had an incentive that meant his salary was elevated to the highest paid coach’s salary plus $1. So that meant he was the highest paid coach in the ncaa inJanuary of 2004. You think he was dissatisfied enough with his salary by the end of the year to leave LSU because of his pay?

our consistency as a program until recently has been to meddle and do things on the cheap.

we still had good and great years under every coach since cm except hallman, who was not a hot commodity for a program like LSU.

arnsparger couldve done what saban did, but we did not want to upgrade infrastructure or pay him. he mainly left because of our lack of financial commitment to the program. he thought he'd done the best he could with what he had to work with.

archer was a good coach. great dc. we got him on the cheap and we kept falling behind in the arms race. it could've helped archer's recruiting, something he wasn't known for and something we didn't offer him any help in.

hallman could actually recruit his arse off in spite of substandard infrastructure. couldn't put it together in the win column.

emmert being here was a large factor in saban's decision, along with recruiting situation. that's from saban's own mouth.

The 2018 LSU football team without Dave Aranda is a complete and total dumpster fire. Think Ole Miss circa 2005-2007.

it's nice to know that LSU has the best DC in the country (better than Venables IMO), regarded as one of the most coveted up-and-coming future HCs.

I like him as a DC. I’m not over-awed by him, but I think he’s a very good one. I would not hire him as a HC unless it was for a mid-level program. He does not appear, to me, to have the salesmanship necessary for a head coach. I know it’s an unpopular opinion, but the best DC we’ve had at LSU was John Chavis. That guy’s system was tailor-made for the kind of talent we get down here.
