Pompano/fishing advice- Miramar

Looking for some advice from some Florida anglers or Louisiana baws with some experience fishing down here.
My cousin bought a few pompano Rigs and “fish bite”.
We have caught 4 or 5 but that’s about it.
I did some googling and bought frozen sand fleas to put on pompano rig. They kept coming off.
Using pompano rig and 4oz weight. With “sand flea” fish bite. The bait looks like a strip of thick bubble gum with what seems to be mesh type material in it.
I thought it was bogus but the local bait shop recommended it as well.
I know this is not Louisiana but I was expecting a little more consistent catching/bites.
We are wade fishing and throwing right before the trough or right past it. Water is crystal clear.
Any recommendations to get more bites or catch different fish?
I brought my spin cast with my voodo shrimp but have not given it a try yet.
Unfamiliar with the species of fish and how to fish them down here.
Do trout or redfish school through here this time of year?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Catch fresh sand fleas at night on the beach. They will kill those.

The last time I was near Miramar I caught a bunch on the beach, all little though. Little freshwater hook for bream, piece of shrimp, on light tackle, toss in the wash, sometimes in 8 inches of water, sometimes in 3 ft, you just have to find where they are, and there's millions. Catch on every cast.
Only problem is they are tiny.
And the birds will eventually spot what you are doing and they'll start trying to eat your fish while you are reeling it in. And they'll steal your bait shrimp when you aren't looking.

We usually don't go till July and the Pompano are mostly gone by then.

Peak pompano season in Destin is around April 25.
OP, go get a sand flea rake and some pompano rigs from the local tackle shop.

You need a 2oz pyramid sinker. Pompano rig with small hooks. I use fish bites and fresh shrimp peeled. Don’t put them on hook with the shell. Also get two 5foot long pvc pipes as rod holders. That gets the rod tips over the surf. Walk the shoreline and look for a spot where they waves appear to be going out like an under toe. That’s the prime spot. I like to cast between the first and second bars. May is money and never have issues getting limits unless the surf is too rough

Fish different “levels” of the surf until you find them. They aren’t always running in the trough or right up on the bar edge. People love to chunk their lire as far as they can. If you have multiple rods, fish one 10 yards off the beach, one 20, one 30, and so on. The tide tomorrow will be huge, so the fish should be biting. Fish bites or fresh dead shrimp is the ticket. Buddy limited out last weekend in PC on the shrimp flavored fish bites

The pomps will often times be right on the beach eating the sand fleas. Like 5-10 ft from shore. So as said, you want a short medium and long cast.
Don’t use the store bought rigs they are made to catch fisherman not fish. Single hook is fine if you can’t tie loops. Also less weight is better use as little as possible to hold it in place. If your line is moving down the beach then generally that means you aren’t fishing the right spot as a wash out pulls your like straight out.
You also need to move until you find them. Move from wash out to wash out.
