Conley as Trade Target

Thinking about the potential for AD to opt in for one more year, is there any way the Pels could acquire Mike Conley? I don’t know the rules for salary matching and such to even know if it’s possible, but would a base of Conley-Jrue-AD-Zion be a contender next year?
Without going too deep on it, it seems like that core would match up pretty well with most teams in the west, if you could figure out some way to add shooters.

not sure how we'd send out enough salary to take back conley.

Hill + a piece or two from a potential AD deal and space we already have.
ETA - I don't think Conley and AD is nearly as simple a task.

We can send less out than we receive given the current cap situation, assuming Randle opts our.
Current salary totals for 2019-2020 have us at $86m.
$9m of that is Randle, who will opt out.
$13m is Hill, who will be going out. $8m is Moore who can either be sent to Memphis or be sent elsewhere.
We still have a $3m trade exception from the Niko trade, which can’t be directly used to get Conley but could be part of a deal to get other pieces.
If we ship out Hill and Moore while Randle opts our, we could probably get a $30m+ contract in Conley back.

Can you combine Pels expirings with a Randle sign and trade?
It just seems like having a player like Zion on an artificially low contract is something to exploit, if it’s possible without sacrificing the 2 plus year future

His contract is ridiculous

It definitely is, but it’s only two years, and would match up with AD giving the Pels one more year to see how it goes. Assuming it didn’t work out and AD still wants out at the end of next year, you’d trade AD and have Conley as an expiring in 20/21.
Obviously none of this will happen, but it seems like a good way to sneak in a year of contention when you only need Zion to be your fourth best guy. And he’s on a cheap contract

We could make it work with Conley salary wise, but it would be easier, and better to send a big contract to Malcolm Brogdon and he be our PG for the future.

Would you do Hill and pick #1 for Conley and pick #2?
This is assuming Davis will then sign the supermax.
Then you can use the 2nd pick to draft Morant.

Absolutely not. Not even a discussion.
I wouldn't trade Zion for anyone in the league. Obviously there are better players out there than him, but what he alone can bring to this franchise, on the court, off the court, monetary...... he's not tradeable right now for this franchise.
Maybe if you said Zion for KD and AD resigns.

Yeah, that’s a negative for me. It just seems interesting to me that AD opting back in, even if it’s just for one more year, gives you a window where you have a tier 1 talent on a tier 3 salary (Zion). Seems like an opportunity
