I care not about politics in music as long as they arent forced.
And that lineup is crap, for the most part. The Disturbed a headliner?
Friday is definitely the night to see.
Well the hypocrisy comes in when RATM’s and SOAD’s lyrics are overtly political and people get pissed when they banter that message between songs? They’re sending that message the entire set.
You can’t get pissed at guys in bands with hits like “Prison Song” and “Killing in the Name” for being political when they’re a friggin political band.
Friday was awesome although they had some sound issues for Ghost and System. Ghost’s sound was way too low, and System started off same way but it wasn’t noticeable since I was closer. System showed up 5-10 minutes late to the stage I think because of this issue, then stopped 4 songs in and they rebooted the entire system. Took about 15-20 minutes, and I pretty much figured we were gonna get our setlist chopped to shite because of ordinances and already ending at 11:30. They played past midnight and the full 27 song setlist anyways. There’s a good chunk of venues that would have had to shut it down at that hard stop, so we got lucky Columbus was chill about it/venue was a soccer stadium.
I may be asking for too much here, but it would be cool if we saw Dave Grohl and Pat show up to Joan Jett’s set tomorrow to do the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” version they did at Nirvana’s RNR HOF induction.
Wasn’t expecting Serj to do Audioslave or Maria Brink to do “Gravity” with Papa Roach (although I should have seen this one coming), so might as well try for the hat track. More coincidences then anything that these people were in the same place as Papa Roach replaced Prodigy after Keith Flint committed suicide. One more coincidence tomorrow would be pretty cool, and I’m probably being really greedy on that one.
