WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Defense Department said on Wednesday it had awarded a $646 million contract to a construction company to design and build a replacement for the border wall in Arizona.
In a statement, the Pentagon said the work by Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Southwest Valley Constructors was expected to be completed by Jan. 31, 2020. The work will be performed in the Tucson sector, which includes most of the Arizona border with Mexico. The Pentagon did not indicate the length of the wall to be built.

Your point? They are putting a 30ft tall steel slat wall to replace a "fence" you can walk over.
Anyone with a brain recognizes this as new wall and a massive security upgrade.

Do you replace your car until it no longer runs reliably?

Do you run your dicksucker for 2 years about how you are going to get a corvette, and then just slap some new rubber on your 12 year old camry and call it a win?
that dumb wall will never be built.

None of this is supported by the linked article. Not one word.

Just FYI, a lot of what is currently considered “wall” is corrugated metal and/or pasture fence.

Again, what's your point? Stop reading fake news.
Do some research yourself. You will get a good look at the fences that are there now and the wall it is being replaced with.

You very well could be right, but I'll believe it when I see it.
Could you link where it states this will be the steel slats?
This is Naco, Arizona, in May 2017:

I did more research.
President Trump in December stated that illegal crossings dropped more than 90 percent when walls were built in the Yuma and Tucson sectors (the sector in which this is being built is Tucson). This was during his Oval Office meeting with Pelosi and Schumer.
Does it make sense to spend more than half a billion dollars to replace fencing in an area in which border crossings have already been severely reduced?

A typical third grade response from you. congrats.

Would it make more sense to build new fencing where none existed, in hotspot areas? Such as Texas?
Otherwise, this seems like a boondoggle. I also posted a pic of steel slat fencing being erected in Arizona in May 2017. Is that a product of Congressional action during the Obama administration (Trump had only been President about four months)?

The length of the wall was not indicated. Cool. Just build it 40-60 miles long. The illegals aren’t smart enough to go around it, right?
