This has become my go-to cab

I opened a Montepulciano from Abruzzo. Never knew it was a grape and just thought it was a region. We have a beef stew simmering and CS cab for tonight. Very cheap but good. Washington State is always my go to for American value.

A grape? I also had no idea. A rough and tumble red for hearty dishes, I've always thought. Always thought it was a DOO.

It's plummy and has some cherry flavors and dry and acidic. Pretty interesting. Apparently they blend it with Sangiovese in Abruzzo. It sounds like a cheap wine and it's only made well in this one region and it's not Montepulciano lol

De Abruzzo means 'of' Abruzzo. What are you trying to say? Abruzzo is the grape, cultivated in Montepulcio?

Other way around. Abruzzo is the region.

That's what I said earlier. Salute.

Montepulciano is a grape and it’s also a town. The town produces Vino Nobile de Montepulciano which is made from Sangiovese grapes. The wine wutang referred to is made in a different region on the eastern coast of Italy. The other side of the mountains from the town. The town is adjacent to Tuscany and is fairly close to Montalcino which is where Brunello is produced.

Enjoyed a couple bottles tonight.

I was referring to the Sangiovese grape but thank you if I made a typo. Montepulciano is a town in the Sienna region which is part of Tuscany. It's a beautiful town.

I’m about to move back to BR. Wasn’t a wine drinker in my younger days the last time
I lived there. What are the go to wine stores?

It was 3Tails, but it got taken over by new owners so I don't know right now.
Calandro's on Perkins has the best selection in town, IMO.
You can find plenty good stuff at Whole Foods, Robert Fresh Market, Martin Wine Cellar, BinQ.
I don't recommend Winn Dixie
