I remember this, one of the dumbest ideas ever.

And 86 million did not participate in that bullshite.

I did. My sisters made us all go. Our stretch was outside of Texarkana. Let's just say hands did not make it across America there.

My church youth group participated in “Hands Along the Mississippi”.
It went down at the river in Kennuh

I was a teenager and worked it in philadelphia. Worked for a balloon company as a teenager and had to either decorate or do a balloon release for the event.

I participated in ‘Hands Around Nell Carter’, that was such a blast in the 80s.

No. Pretty sure I mocked it as my 15 year old self would have done. Teens are assholes
I was nearly 30 and mocked it too. That and We Are the World, and Farm Aid, and anything involving Bono.

You must have been next to me. Left a wedding the night before and when i got home a drunk friend called and said let's go to Arkansas for it. Left at 300am.
Apparently, Texarkana is in a dry county. Cops ran,up on us with sirens and tried to arrest us because we had beer in the car.
Finally made it to,the event....I was the last one holding hands and the next person was about a 1/2 mile away.

Uh NO... I was in college chasing girls and, yeah, going to school. And drinking. Lots and lots of drinking.

We were talking about this at work the other day. The one guy who said he had participated is a bit of a wackjob. He tithes to his church but also gives monthly to Planned Parenthood. Yeah.

frick no!
Not only that. But all the money and food that was raised from all the liberal “feel good” activities... We are the world concerts etc... went straight to all the war lords and kingpins in Africa. shite was delivered by truck and planes and was immediately confiscated. Like the videos of those people nursing the little baby rabbit back to health, only to watch in horror as a hawk swoops in and snatches it up when they release it. Complete waste of time and money.

I was celebrating graduating from HS, having one of the best times of my life. I don't think I was even aware this was happening.
