The wife and I just came indoors because of this storm and decided to watch Gerald’s Game.

WTF!

Another Stephen King total eclipse child molestation incest movie? (Deloris Claiborne)

WTF!

WTF is wrong with Stephen King?

Did his daddy molest him during an eclipse or something?

Holy crap this was a seriously sick movie. Stephen King is fricked up.

He’s a nasty dirty liberal. Would not surprise me if he had some pedo fantasies. He can write a damn good story though

He’s incredibly talented as a writer but it’s been pretty obvious he’s messed up in the head and miserable the last few years.

All of his posts are just bitter.

Sleepwalkers was pretty bad also. He also got possibly the most molested child in Hollywood to star in his movie Firestarter.

Oh hell ... I completely forgot about those.

It never hit me until today ... I mean I always figured he was nuts and no doubt a communist or socialist but, until today it never hit me what a perv this guy is.

Here’s the thing about Gerald’s Game .... it was totally unnecessary to the story. A complete waste - it did nothing to enhance the story.

Also, is this the first of his movies to take place in the South? Haven’t all of his movies prior to this taken place in Maine?

This one focused on Alabama and a little on Louisiana .... but why? Keep it in Maine, makes more sense.

I didn’t read the book so maybe someone who read the book can make more sense of this movie.

Well it was a cat brought back to life in pet cemetery, right?

Pretty sure the kids had a gangbang in "It".

He's a great story teller, but he's got some major issues.

The first few hundred pages of The Outsider is the some of the best stuff King has written in years. Richard Price is going to be the show runner for it on HBO with Ben Mendelsohn as the lead. Has a chance to be really frickin good.

My suspicion is that when he had his first big run of success, and he was amazingly successful, he got into some fairly heavy duty drug use. Big Steve even admits he was doing tons of nose candy at the time.

I think all that booger sugar, combined with the inevitable wear and tear every author goes through, started to put the whammy on his psyche. After being run over while out for a walk (King later bought the guy's car so he could personally demolish it) the decline accelerated.

Now he's a lot like Paul McCartney. Both were incredible big for quite a few years but now they just sort of put things out to put things out. So you get weirder and weirder stories because his internal editor is pretty much retired.

Not that it excuses the sickness of the subject matter at all, but those two were supposed to be part of a larger work about all kinds of loony crap happening in the path of an eclipse. I stopped reading King around then because it seemed like a sellout to sell more books--two thin books instead of an It or The Stand sized work.

Shawshank Redemption
Stand By Me

These make up for some of his shitty stuff, even though you can’t blame him for a bad movie.

Ever get a chance, read “The Long Walk”. It’s awesome. I think it’s in the same book as Shawshank (both short stories)

I think you should really be careful making claims about such a disgusting perversion, but Stephen King is definitely a twisted individual.

I used to read all of his books .... did it for years. He got a pass for Deloris Claiborne because it was integral to the story. But damn, this one we watched today went over the damn line. I’m assuming the movie was tame compared to the book but having the little girl sit there crying on daddy’s lap while he fapped all over her .... I mean this was a deeply disturbing flick on so many levels and totally unnecessary IMHO.

Pissed me off that we got suckered into that and I kept hoping for redemption but if this is the path Hollywood is going to start taking then it is a bad omen.

The book is like 30 years old and he freely admits Maine is a fricked up place for writing fodder.

Which makes the "write what you know" advice more than a little unsettling. Her abuse isn't treated as a good thing or something to be emulated in the book or the movie, so what's the real issue here?

I don't think you realize just how big It and The Stand are.
