I understand the Hess deal. But why is Hilliard starting? He gave up 6 in one inning against UF?

Yep. He had a bad outing. Guess he should never pitch again.

It’s a good question I guess, but who else does he start? Hess is just as unreliable.

I’m guessing Hilliard will go 2 or 3 & then do Johnny Whole staff.

After coming in cold he eventually settled in, still not a good outing but don’t judge him on that one outing.

I thought he was doing well until he got a shite call on a curve ball and things kind of ballooned from there.

He hasn’t looked sharp pretty much most season but people will act like it was just one game against Florida

Yeah none of our pitchers have had bad outings. fricking clown. Hillard was a beast last year and he was our best pitcher. He had a bad outing vs and SEC team. Hilliards a stud.

You and the horse you rode in on can go frick yourselves.

ETA: Who else do you want them to start?

Hess is not a starter and Hill is not available. CPM does not have many choices, but our pen is full of kids who can pitch 1-2 innings.

My assumption is they will essentially flop Hillard and Hess. Let Hillard get you 3 innings, then let Hess get you to 3-4 innings, that will get you to Fontenot.

I actually would have liked to see Peterson get a shot at starting. Not sure how his stamina would be, but he has some great stuff.

does anyone actually trust Hess to come in in a close game right now though?

Maybe too good. He's been having trouble controlling that fast ball that sometimes has too much arm-side run to it.

I wouldn't have any problems going to Hess out of the pen right now. It was Hess's decision to go to the pen, i think mentally he will be ready to go. He has the stuff, its a matter of keeping it between the ears.

He was perhaps our best pitcher last year. If we can get him back in form (with the rest of our injured pitchers) it would be huge for post-season play. We haven’t been healthy all year. Maybe it will all come together at the end. Glass half full.
