I don't know how people can think its anyone but Messi. Maybe it's a matter of preference or something. Messi would be the best no. 10 in the world if he didn't score one goal. He'd be the best DLP in the world if he played deeper. Messi is the linchpin of the Barca attack and he scores goals in droves. He's the perfect technical wizard and he produces on top of being the perfect player technically.

Mmmh, not the same thing. Cristiano is a great, great player, but he's no Messi.

CR7 is a great scorer. Messi is the greatest player ever.

CR7 could be the greatest. he has all the physical attributes you’d want. he just doesn’t give a shite about anything that happens away from the 18 yard box. Messi will come receive the ball and orchestrate an entire offense on the minus side of midfield. CR7 will just sit and pout on the other side of the field

He hasn't the ball dominion or vision that Messi does. He could never be an effective 10 or DLP.

ETA. I'm sure he's got the vision, he hasn't the capability.

And Messi could be the best in the world at both of these positions. He's amazing at controlling the pace of the game when he wants to. His positional awareness is superb too.

And Messi could never do what Ronaldo has done all over Europe

I don't think I can recall anyone comparable. Many players were superb at only facets of his game, but not the complete package. Guti had uncanny positional awareness and passing technique and efficacy, but was slow, and often lazy.

You're trying to compare one of the best wingers to ever play the game, to one of the best who's ever played the game. Messi could do what he did, and did so, when much younger. You're better off comparing Cristiano and Garrincha.

Messi could do Cristiano, could do Pirlo, and could do Xavi. With no drop-off in efficacy or production. Probably the best and most simplified way to describe him.

Nope. Cristiano is a great header of the ball. Messi is not
