If we’re talking about intelligence relative to political ability, three immediately come to mind - Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, and Donald Trump. They all led new movements within their parties and in the country and recognized how to make themselves appealing to disenfranchised voters.

If one's being honest, it's impossible to deny how gifted this first time politician is, to have jumped right in and won the U.S. Presidency. Not to mention how intact he remains despite the efforts to topple him.

If we're not limiting ourselves recent politicans, Thomas Jefferson. The more I learn about the Constitution and Bill of Rights, I'm in awe of how brilliant the Founding Fathers were.

It’s Important to differentiate good talkers from true intellectuals in your mind before answering.
Of course one can be both like Rush Limbaugh but those types are rare and he’s also not a politician.
Trump outsmarts everyone because he’s always 2 steps ahead. Most politicians can talk a good game but they have no clue what the frick they’re doing.
