Is Keyshawn Johnson his buddy?
'I want everybody to win:' Greedy Williams eyes more than personal success, fortune

Williams signed with Keyshawn Johnson’s First Pick Sports agency, and one condition was made very clear.
“Everyone we met with, they had to understand it – I’m going to be involved,” Bryant said. “Every step of the way until I feel he’s able to go off on his own – I’m just being a mama.”

before he takes a snap as a professional, the former star at Calvary Baptist Academy has firmly established the groundwork for philanthropy in his community and is building a solid foundation for his family’s life after football, no matter when that may be.
Keyshawn from Wiki:
quote:
Joseph Keyshawn Johnson (born July 22, 1972) is a former American football player who was a wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL) for eleven seasons.
He played college football for the University of Southern California, and earned All-American honors. The first pick in the 1996 NFL Draft, he played professionally for the New York Jets, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers.
He retired from football following the 2006 season, and spent seven years as a television broadcaster for the sports channel ESPN.
Johnson co-founded First Picks Management in 2005 as a vehicle to pursue his business interests in the food service, hotel, and real estate industries as well as venture capital investing.[citation needed] He recruited Harvard Business School MBAs, Glenn and Clarence Mah, as well as his public relations and marketing agent, Ingrid Roberts, to co-lead the organization.[19] Johnson and his management team partnered with National Football League and National Basketball Association athletes, including Warrick Dunn, Dennis Northcutt, Terence Newman, and Joe Smith in developing First Picks Management, a corporate website.
Must be pretty terrible getting financial advice from ONLY TWO HARVARD business school graduates. He is in some serious trouble. I have 7 Harvard guys advising me and still just barely scrape by.

DBs were not high value this year. Greedy may not have been wise in some cases but it really didn’t matter.

LSU can’t protect athletes post graduation, etc. They can welcome them home, and promote them; but that’s it.

And people call him stupid for leaving.

I read an article once about how some of these guys end up broke. Every friend and family member has a need, a lot of them legit. Your grandmother does deserve a new house. Your aunt absolutely needs a new car. It sure would be fun to own a restaurant, which ends up a money pit.
And the rookies are expected to wine and dine the veterans, who have expensive tastes, so you drop 5-10k at a high end steakhouse more than once.
Probably doesn't matter much to a high draft pick, but for a kid making rookie minimum who may only be around a year or two, it goes fast.

Yeah, that room was FULL of a hell of a lot of "phone bills and car notes" he gonna be payin.
So his family and friends showing their support for his accomplishment means “phone bills and car notes” to you? He probably had as many who came to cheer and celebrate his high school graduation. I guess they had their hands out back then as well huh? You assume his supporters are leeches and are not genuinely happy for success. What is that assumption is based on? Is that because your supporters are?

quote:The NFL starts a pension after 3 years of service. The also have a good 401k that is matched at 200%. Better than they used to be.
Most of us also have some plan or long term career. We aren't completely clueless as to what our employment status will be in 4 years.
I'd rather take home 100k for 30 years with a 401k match and full benefits than taking home 900k for four years and then uncertainty.

Still a nice chunk of change if you have financial discipline.

Probably wasn't posted soon enough. Like always, the misinformation is the fastest to spread on this board.
This was in another thread this morning:
"Is it true his buddy/agent didn’t schedule any interviews"

Another yr to fix tackling working agains big WR mid to top first round pick staying senior yr. 6.7 million vs 20+ million whom ever is advising him I would fire immediately. True you take a chance getting hurt, hell you could get killed in a car crash. Most players only get one maybe two contracts and done. Most don’t make it past one contract.

Good payday but he left based on the assumption he was gonna get a lot more.
