. Stone did a hell of a job making you genuinely hate her in that role.
Some folks want to slam Casino for Stone's performance, but I think they're confusing dislike for the character with a bad performance. She's mesmerizing for parts of this film.
Apparently the cast and crew gave her an ovation after the "freak out on the front lawn scene" - and reportedly Marty had folks who witnessed the actual freak out (either some of the responding cops, some Rosenthal neighbors or both IIRC) present and they endorsed it as a realistic portrayal. I mean, that's the news article that Pileggi sent to Marty to get him hooked on filming a story based on those folks.

If I may quote David Spade from an SNL weekend update... "Casino, Caseen-it. Liked it better when it was called Goodfellas."

Goodfellas was just a more enticing story and packed so much in.
One thing it lacked though, was the Sam Rothstein dancers.

Someone always says this when discussing this movie but I am perfectly capable of distinguishing between a character I can’t stand and some of the most laughable over acting I can think of.

I like both but I find Casino more entertaining. So no you are not alone.

I can't fault your preference.
I prefer Goodfellas by a little. Maybe a little editing of Casino would move the needle.
Someone called Goodfellas the perfect movie. I'm not sure exactly what criteria pertains in that analysis but I get his drift.
I wonder where this one would fall in the race? Fugazy or Fugazi?

Horrible opinion.
Goodfellas is better, and it's not even a little bit close.

Goodfellas spoke to me more. I have always had the want to be a gangster. Cheer for the bad guys in the movies just like Jimmy, but I have this thing called a consciousnse that has always held me back. Damn angel on my shoulder.

I like Casino better until De Niro marries Sharon Stone. After that, Goodfellas is better.
I really like the opening of Casino.
For the entire movie, Goodfellas is better

I thought Casino was Scorsese's downfall to be honest. After Goodfellas he's been real erratic. Wolf of Wall St. was ok and I thought The Departed was pretty forgettable. Goodfellas was his last great film.

No, just no.

You're pretty much right on. I disagree with the casino part though. I do think it was a good movie.
But you're right about scorceses' downfall. I just think it came with the departed and not casino.
The departed was terrible. As was wolf of wallstreet.
So much pointless/useless dialogue in wolf.
But in terms of scorceses' "last great movie". Yep, it was goodfellas for sure.

Yes you are alone.
I might be alone in thinking that Sharon Stone’s character could’ve been left out all together. And instead of a 2 hr, 40 min movie, you’ve got a really good 2 hr movie.
Just my two cents.

No not alone. Both are all time greats but I find Casino to be the overall better made movie and Goodfellas to be more entertaining and more rewatchable

Casino is excellent. Just can't match Goodfellas which is a modern classic.

When I do something stupid like stub a toe or bump my head I go into a Pesci Billy Batts monologue...
“You s t u p I d dumb motherfricker....”

Love both but I prefer Casino as well. I've talked to a couple old school gamblers in the past who told me stories about Tony Spilotro and when they saw the movie, they said they almost shite their pants because Pesci looks like him, talked like him, and everything. Like literally to the T. I've stayed at the Stardust (The Tangiers Casino on the movie) and the Riviera (both extinct now) in the past and it's kind if surreal knowing the history of both places being mob owned in the past.
It's not a knock on goodfellas which is excellent too but given a choice, I would take Casino. Just a well made thoroughly entertaining movie from beginning to end.
