I certainly wouldn't go to court expecting that to happen in front of the whole world. My suggestion would be to call the DA and ask if there is any kind of program you can attend (in person or on line) that would allow the ticket to be bumped to a non-moving violation. Honestly, this is common practice in small towns and rural areas. Often, they just charge you some kind of "administrative" fee on top of the normal fine. If your driving record is not clean, don't even bother asking about this.
