Predictably, Reuters portrays it as handing Trump a victory, when it is actually a victory for the Constitution, the American people, and common sense.
Illegal aliens have no right to representation in the US legislature. The fact that it is known that the census numbers are used to apportion representation in state and federal elections, should immediately and irrevocably preclude participation by non-citizens. Anything else is fraud.

The purpose of adding that question, which has never been on any previous census, is simply to attempt to undercount the Hispanic population as much as possible.
Both sides admit adding the question will lead to an undercount of minority populations. The purpose of the census is to get an accurate count of who is living here not citizens living here. The question is simply a Republican attempt to get as low a count of Hispanics as possible.
The question, in practice, will bring no accurate info to the Census Bureau as anyone who doesn't want to answer it won't.
