Hagia Sophia and Istanbul needs to be called Constantinople

The minarets need to be removed, the building is perfect and doesn’t need those spikes added on the corners. I can’t imagine what it would be like to walk into such a space in the 500s and see something so incredible.
LINK
The Hagia Sophia construction consists of mostly masonry. The structure is composed of brick and mortar joints that are 1.5 times the width of the bricks. The mortar joints are composed of a combination of sand and minute ceramic pieces displaced very evenly throughout the mortar joints. This combination of sand and ceramic pieces could be considered to be the equivalent of modern concrete at the time.[3]
And also Constantinople sounds so much better.

Getting the achievement to climb that thing in 10 seconds in Assassin's creed was really frustrating.

I’ll add this to my list of things I could not give a frick about. I’ll also add it to the list of places in countries I’ll never go to because the people are batshit insane. It’s up there with Egypt.

Why Constantinople and not Byzantion?

Only if you pronounce it like the Greeks: Constantinopoli

And spell it Konstantinoúpolis

And also realize that Istanbul is a Turkish translation for the Greek popular name for the city, Stambuli or Stamboul.
Had the city been called Constantinople by the people who lived there, in a colloquial sense (as the official name was still Kostantiniyye into the 19th century), I don't think the Turks would have changed the name. Or without Turkish nationalistic fervor.
