That may be, but it was still a new offense, and one that outgained Alabama in total yards for the first time since 2012, and the only LSU offense to score on Alabama in the last three seasons. Coach O has ALREADY shown a commitment to upgrading the offense. The ones crying about they'll 'believe it when they see it' are just blind, impatient children.
And then O abruptly fired that OC after one season and reverted back to the guy that led LSU to zero points vs. Alabama in 2016. That same guy then led LSU to zero points vs. Alabama in 2018 as well. So essentially what we've seen is O "show a commitment to upgrading the offense." Only to quickly back off that commitment and revert back to a sense of comfort. Only to then commit to try to upgrade the offense once more.
I don't think any fan wants the purported new offense to fail. But I can certainly understand why many would take a wait and see approach.

Kind of ignorant to suggest the 2016 and 2018 offenses were remotely similar.

I think O wanted more of a passing attack.

Thank God we have Ensminger on staff as a fall back. That guy is just doing whatever is asked of him to support his alma mater. I'll be sorry to see him go when he finally hangs it up.

I got no problem with that. The man is trying to get it done.
