Jack Nicklaus Or Tiger Woods?

Who's your GOAT?
It's damn close but having watched both I'm going with Nicklaus, but it's so close I could call them 1a and 1b.
I think if Nicklaus had the same equipment and medical/fitness that has been developed the Golden Bear would have had over 20 major titles.
I have been fortunate enough to watch both in their Prime. Tomorrow I could easily change my mind

Original thread. A true throwback to the late 2000s on this board

All I know is I never want to hear another word about Tiger's difficult competition after those guys folded all day Sunday.

I looked for something recent and probably felt this was going to be Germans, but what the hell.

But there is no wrong answer.

Thats golf. Some guys make mistakes. The guy who makes the least mistakes wins.

People who support Jack tend to say he had more elite competition he had to contend with. People who support Tiger argue the competition is way deeper. I have no idea which way technology arguments cut.

Tiger IMO. Had he not gone through that bad stage he would be at 25 majors right now.

This is dumb. Tiger's competition is infinitely more difficult than Jack ever had at any point.
This is the deepest Golf has ever been in history.

Tiger is the GOAT and everyone knows it. He would've crushed Jack's record had he stayed healthy/not got caught banging everything that moved.

Jack= 18 major wins and 19 2nd place finishes in majors...
When Tiger can come up with numbers like that we can talk.....

Clubs are more advanced, ball fly longer, GPS tech to judge distance, hand-held devices show wind directions and speeds at ridiculous accuracy. The Old timers flicked a piece of grass in the air to judge wind speed and direction and looked at the scorecard and markers to determine distance.

Tiger is the GOAT. He could easily get to 90 tour wins, and no one will ever get close to that. Jack may have the majors but Tiger's total wins is what sets him apart. Jack never won another tournament after his win in 86'. Tiger could easily add a few more majors, and a bunch of tournament wins.

They cant use any of these during the tournament rounds, so I dont see how this is relevant

MSB: Which is better?
Peej: the OLD one because I watched IT, PUNKS. You weren't even BORN yet.

Do you even watch golf?

Jack also had the best "How to play Golf' instructional video ever. Covers every part of the game.

Career: Jack ahead Tiger by the slightest of margins due to majors at the moment. Tiger has him beat basically everywhere else.
If you are comparing both at their absolute peak at any point in their careers, it’s Tiger over Jack pretty easily imo.
Tiger still owns and will probably always own the two most dominant performances in the history of golf (97 Masters and 2000 US Open).

No one cares about second place finishes. As the wise Ricky Bobby once said “if you ain’t first you’re last.”
