Drove by on I-10 and sky was glowing more than just your typical flare. I think they are in turnaround right now, so may have something to do with it.

I am seeing the flares right now from Atlantic Aviation. Dark black smoke came earlier before sunset.

Three units in T/A and one of those is about to start up.

Five units shut down for the T/A... one unit coming back up which is why it’s flaring. Wait until the Cat goes in start up mode... it will make the current flare look small.

Are they building a new flare gas recovery unit or can they upgrade what they have?

I see it from the Des Allemands over pass.

Idk what’s in turnaround, but this would be late for a refinery turnaround, those are usually early in the year so they are rolling before summer gas season raises demand. FYI, the biggest flaring at Norco is usually associated with their chemical plant olefins unit...

I know their FCC Unit is in turnaround right now to replace the primary and secondary cyclones with larger ones to increase reliability and capacity.

Convent shut down their FCCU last year in June for a TA. I don't know exactly why, but summer gasoline season hasn't been a reason to have early turnarounds for many years. Typically plants avoid late year TAs due to employee absence during the holidays and hunting season.

It's a control device that kicks on any time there's an upset. Happens all the time
