There is clearly a negative connotation on this forum that oilfield baws are stupid, f250 driving, truck nut dangling idiots. I figure there are enough of us oilfield baws on this site to correct the stereotype.

Oilfield baws, Name your highest degree achieved and current job.

The 5 Steps to become a DP Operator
1. sign up for DP induction training which is approximately 5 day course.
2. gain practical knowledge by working for 60 sea time days on a DP vessel
3. Take advanced DP course which is 4 days
4. Serve a minimum 60 days at sea with str course as watch-keeping trainee.
5. Nautical Institute or similar will issue DP operators license certificate

Is this your masters degree? Or you have a wasted masters degree and could have simply gone this route.

Is this 2010? Try again. You better have a degree from a maritime academy if you want to be a drill ship DPO

You have to have a coast guard issued license to even be eligible to enter the nautical institute dynamic positioning training scheme. You mustve missed that part
