Pretty common when I was a kid, it was inevitable you were going to get mumps, measles, and chicken pox, so parents purposely exposed their kids to just get it over with.

Yeah but now we’ve made vaccines so you don’t have to get the disease and possibly die from it to become immune to it

I was never exposed to chicken pox until I was 16. A friends little sister had it but he didn't think anything of it as "everyone" had had it by our age.
That sucked bad. Absolutely covered with pox. Supposedly it's worse the older you are.
