True, believing they might stop. They were living on the man's property, the father of the son running with them. However, no one made them stop. I thought the movie also showed Hamer confronting them and they chose to fire.

It’s true. Cops had a hard time shooting through the cars with smaller calibers.
The feds actually conducted tests against that model car to see what caliber would effectively penetrate it

The car is in Primm Nevada at a casino. I've seen it up close. The guns had no problem going through that car.

because at the time i believe there was a shoot on sight warrant for them wanted dead or alive and a person with their reputation for killing its very understandable at the time they felt that order gave them a license to take no chances and execute them on sight
i think everyone agrees that by todays standard we dont condone executions in place of attempting an arrest

They were believed to have murdered 13 people... Nine of them Cops... So I really don't think that cops really gave a damn....

Exactly.
And I’m not some Don’t mess with Texas type guy, and in fact the first shot was a Louisiana deputy, however regarding Texas Marshals back in the day.......
If they got put on a hunt for cold blooded killers, they ain’t bout no put your hands up. They about justice. Dead or alive.

That Kevin Costner movie was terrible.
Still prefer the 1967 version with Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway.
Plus the Costner movie was mostly made in Louisiana, but the '67 flick was filmed at real Bonnie and Clyde sites in Texas.
Edit 2: What's so damn funny? You millennials wouldn't know a cinematic masterpiece if it kicked you in the nuts.
