quote:

For eight long years under President Barack Obama, Americans were told that our economy was stagnant. We should not expect any better than two percent growth and that this was just the new normal they’d have to live with. Maybe America’s best days really were behind us.

Then what happened? Americans shocked the system and elected Donald Trump: A businessman, an outsider, and just what America needed. Today have nearly 4 percent growth, and are in the midst of one of the greatest jobs booms since the end of World War II.

What changed? Americans rejected the politicians and the pundits, threw away the same old playbook and elected someone who actually knows about creating jobs. We can use that same kind of leadership in Baton Rouge. That’s why I am running for Governor.

Since January I’ve put over 10,000 miles on my truck traveling to 50 campaign stops across the state. The most frequent question is, “why is Louisiana always ranked last?” Louisiana is ranked 47th in healthcare, 48th in public safety, 49th in education, and dead last in opportunity.

We’re at the bottom of all of the good lists and at the top of too many of the bad ones. Our lawsuit environment is killing jobs. Our citizens are over taxed. Too many of our children are trapped in failing schools.

And we have a career politician in our Governor who has no idea how to get us out of this mess telling us that we should just be OK with being number 49 in everything. Well, guess what? I am not OK with it.

We cannot continue down this path. I’ve had enough.

Louisiana should be the best state in the south for jobs and opportunity. In my over 40 years in business I have traveled across the country and know Louisiana can compete.

We have everything here we need to succeed. We have abundant natural resources, we have a skilled workforce, we have some of the busiest ports in the world, we have a magnificent tourist destination in New Orleans, we have the bountiful Gulf of Mexico, and we have great universities…It’s all here for us to be one of the states that leads America, if we have the right leadership.

If you look around the country you see that voters are turning away from the same old tax and spend career politicians, and turning to leadership–conservative outsiders with serious business backgrounds–to solve the problems left by career politicians.

Doug Ducey in Arizona inherited a $1 billion deficit and balanced the budget in his first year…without raising taxes. Pete Ricketts in Nebraska is breaking state records for new jobs and employment, climbing up the rankings of fastest growing states for tech jobs. And last year, here in our backyard, Tennessee elected CEO Bill Lee, a conservative outsider who ran against two politicians, and pledged to shake up the establishment.

And I don’t need to remind you again who is in the White House.

Voters are not looking for another politician to come in and trim around the edges. They are not looking for someone with the same excuses for not getting it done.

No, the people of our state want a fresh approach. They want someone who will throw out the old rule book and get the job done.

I am blessed to be the co-founder and chairman of a $350 million company that we built from scratch.

Being a successful entrepreneur means that you never rest. You never accept the status quo. It means never accepting failure. You always have to keep striving towards success, no matter how difficult. You’re always challenging yourself and your team. You’re always asking tough questions.

This fall, we need a conservative outsider, not a career politician–someone who can walk into the Governor’s office and reject all of the failed thinking of the past–by both parties. If we want to change our state government, we have to change the kind of leaders we send to Baton Rouge.

I know that if we do that, then Louisiana can lead the nation.

But it starts with an outsider.

This is worth posting and it's a message that needs to be heard.

It's a good example of why I'm more inclined to support Rispone over another politician in Abraham even though I like him and would have no problems voting for him, especially in the unlikely scenario that he's close enough to beating JBE outright in the first round.

Rispone can be Louisiana's Rick Scott or Bill Lee. The potential is there.

Ripsone needs to start spending his money on TV and print media to get his name and message out there and not just talk about how many miles he put on his truck.

He has allegedly bought a billboard that is a shot across the bow of the trial lawyer industry.

Great message.

Thanks for sharing as I stay far AF away from the Hayride. As do most people, and thus, it's time, like NOW, to get this message off of the Hayride and spread out as far as he can using traditional and non-traditional means.

I think he has a higher upside than Abraham. And as much as I've been annoyed that Rispone hasn't lit a fire and ramped up, neither has Abraham.

But if we riding, it's time to ride. It's April and the session is going to give Rispone plenty of chances to spell out what he wants to do while people are talking about the session and the issues in the state.

If I remember correctly, Vitter was already doing this at this point in 2015 and it didn't do him much good in the long run.

This is something Vitter failed to do by the way because he was so lazy and comically aloof and just assumed people would automatically vote for him for a lateral move to Governor.

Anytime you're running for a new position, You have to travel around the state, meet people, talk to them, listen to their concerns, let them know what you stand for.

It's the small ball of electioneering.

I've have heard almost nothing of this guy. Granted I'm out of state now, but my dad is dying to vote for someone and hasn't even mentioned Rispone.

Vitter was a 2x US Senator and former congressman. Eddie has little to no name recognition anywhere, including his home market BR.

Agree. But the people he is not meeting in person still need to know who he is. He could catch fire, but he needs to show conservative voters he is serious by spending some of his pledged millions on getting his name out there.

If I feel like there's something worth posting on this board no matter where it's from, then goddamn it I'm going to post it.

Another example like McKay's piece talking about republican negativity about their ability to defeat JBE. You would be one such target.

There's a history lesson or two in there that's worth sharing.

Read it and tell me what you disagree with.

Because Vitter's issue was not at all one of "name recognition."

He needs more than "I'm a Business guy". Like a platform. he needs to stir it up because he will be against Louisiana's own Deep State.

It's not just the governor. The legislature is tax and spend. Education sucks. Our tax structure sucks. Our lack of tort reform.

We live in a state were many, if not most, think the path to success is to:
1) Tax each other or
2) Sue each other or
3) Steal from each other

SO we need more than a candidate. We need an awakening that what we are doing is not working. JBE is just the latest example.

McKay posted that yesterday. I think he's projecting A LOT, but this is what most of us have said...

There is a path to beat JBE. But, the time to start down the path has begun.

And his whole "a democrat hasn't won re-election since 1975" is weird because a democrat hasn't RUN for re-election since 1975.

1979 was open (due to term limits)
83 was GOP incumbent
87 was open (due to EWE deciding to drop out)
91 was GOP incumbent
95 was open (due to EWE deciding to not run)
99 was GOP incumbent
03 was open (due to term limits)
07 was open (due to Blanco deciding to not run given her performance in Katrina)
11 was GOP incumbent
15 was open (due to term limits)

87 and 95 dealt with EWE and scandal, and 07 dealt with Katrina fallout.

So him spending several hundred words talking about all those races is just word vomit because they didn't involve what is in play in this race.

What LA needs is someone who will hold the political class of LA accountable for past misdeeds (particularly the Longs and continuing theft of state O&G royalties)....and, probably, new citizens that prioritize economic growth over festivals.

Fair points

But still doesn't change the fact that a quite few of our Governors are people that have come completely out of nowhere including our current Governor in a much more conservative state and also including the all time GOAT like Mike Foster in 1995 who had an accomplished meteoric rise from unknown to Governor in months.

This board's woe is me attitude towards this race is premature to say the least when the people posting on here are political junkies and the casual voters really don't start tuning in until late summer.

But there's a common thread in that, don't you see?

JBE - open race
Foster - open race
Roemer - open race
Treen - open race

Blanco was LT Governor
Jindal has previously run
EWE is EWE

I think you may be misjudging. I think you have two major camps right now on this board.

1) JBE sucks so bad that anyone with an "R" next to his name that makes the runoff will automatically win because they have an "R" and JBE sucks so bad

2) JBE is beatable, but he does have a lot of support, does have some things he can run on (even though most of us don't like them) and it's going to take a good campaign and actual legit ideas to beat him.

I'm in the second camp and it seems people like you and doubleb are in the first.
